I just checked my order status page today, and after 1 week (past order) it finally said "work in progress." However, when i checked it about 5 hours later, there was this message below, saying:
Estimate Delivery Date: To be advised. Please check this site at later time. For further enquiries please submit your request: here.
Does this mean that my com wont be arriving anytime soon? who else has had such experiences? And does anyone have tips on how i can give them a poke up where it hurts so they can speed up my order? (i'm in urgent need of my alienware as i have a documentary to hand up, and my old computer does not have the brawn to render the AVCHD files in Premiere Pro.)
-- Just curious, how can i tell if dell has shipped me a refurbished com instead of a new one?
** UPDATE**
This is what dell has for me:
this is what it shows on the "delivery status" tab:

and yet on the shipping details tab it writes:
Date Delivery Status Remark

19-Mar-2010 Loading for Export

I'd recommend contacting technical support and inquiring on why the delay of your product, hopefully you'll be able to get someone to chase it up for you.
-
I tried, they said there was nothing wrong. As for the chase, they said there wasnt much they could do.
-
What do you mean that they said nothing was wrong, they acknowledged that it was still ETA and didn't find anything unusual about the delay? I've just read in another thread here about asking to speak to their supervisor and such, on such occasions, hopefully someone with experience with contacting Dell will have some better tips for you than what I've suggested.
-
As in, the person at dell direct which i ordered from said my computer was already being manufactured, that was last Sunday. Yesterday i called dell as their order status site said there was no progress, and the person i spoke to said they hadn't started work. They did apologise for the delay, but did not give any reason.
-
By the way, my order never came with an order number, so i cant email dell support as the webpage requests for the order number. only way i was able to check the site was because i had a quotation number and a customer number.
-
Don't think I know what else you can do other than contacting them that you've already done, perhaps query about how to go about cancelling the order cause your dissatisfied with their service and lack of support of a product you should've received by now or just wait it out.
-
i cant cancel it cause i really need it urgently. plus in SEA we do not have a satisfaction guarantee thing. we can't return a product just because we are not satisfied.
-
-
thats not possible. its paid for. and probably its already halfway made.
but the point is not to return it, because i need a better gpu that can help me deal with my AVCHD files. and also because i do not want to buy an Asus G51Vx just for the muscle and then regret not buying an alienware for the looks. I'm just trying to find ways to speed up the process.
Someone said to speak to the manager? so what, i go like 'hi, can i speak to your manager?'
sorry, i'm only 15, this is about one of the first times i'm calling any computer support while needing to speak to someone 'up above'. so i need some tips. oh and no, my parents are overseas atm but i have a project to rush out. Lesson on self-independance for a Singaporean... -
Oh and is there any way for me to tell if dell sends me a refurbished com?
-
I dont know if there is a way to tell with any certainty if it is a refurb, I believe here in the states that Dell would have to disclose whether it is new/unused OR a refurbished unit.
I would like to think that they would operate under the same rules in your country.
and yes, call and request a manager/supervisor. Assert yourself and get some answers. Take down names and times when you speak to anyone and get a case number.
Go get em! -
the3vilGenius 3vil knows no fear
Dell is updating their site, look at the other thread on the first page called new alienware or something. it might explain a few things.
-
-
any help anyone?
-
Now it says:
19-Mar-2010 Loading for Export
Tell me this is NOT a lie. -
Let us join hands and pray that it's true.
-
I dont understand.
this is what it shows on the "delivery status" tab:
and yet on the shipping details tab it writes:
Date Delivery Status Remark
09-Mar-2010 Order Received
16-Mar-2010 Work in Progress
19-Mar-2010 Loading for Export

Now dell calls up, and says that my com has arrived in Singapore warehouse.
-
DELL IS SO SCREWED.
Estimate Delivery Date: 05-Apr-2010
Maybe its time to take out the email to [email protected]? -
just call and ask to speak to the manager straight away thats what i do every time i call them and i call them every 2 days with probs lol i have the same dramas with an order im waiting for now as well maybe they are having dramas with shipping or something just demand something for free i have and it works
-
They have learnt. They wont give u anything free, and if u talk to the manager they just send the call to another colleague.
-
On the other side do not expect Dell/AW to meet your deadline. You are maybe one of how many others waiting in line for theirs as well.
One of the major points about the "Wait Game" is that you were given an estimated time of shipping. If you ordered something that said would delay shipment or part maybe back ordered then they would have advised you.
From what I understand from the notice they gave you its probably in transit sitting somewhere in shipping.
More than likely waiting to clear customs. -
As for the deadline... i dropped the email to dell. -
lol i have recived free alienware headphones an alieanware mouse and an 17 inch laptop bag so sorry but they do give you things for free
-
wa lol i also from singapore and i got mine fast. but even so mine has lots of problem. play crysis at high only 20+fps dual 280m try here and there also cant solve.
-
ah well, this thread can be closed. Dell called up and said they'd be delivering today. What a screwed up order system. Website doesnt even update itself.
Does this mean i wont be getting my alienware anytime soon?
