    Hello

today i put the new liquid ultra on cpu and gpu's all went fine ...
but as i power up the laptop i have no keyboard or touchpad ... i think ah! i forgot to plug back the big ribon cable ...

i check it its pluged in ... i remove it and check contact on the cable and its missing 2 or 3 litlle bar ...

i call dell and the are saying its my fault and the warranty would not cover the cable replacement ???

i always asumed that we could upgrade our laptops .... we can't ??

You can upgrade the laptops, but you must have damaged the cable in the process of the upgrade. At least this is what Dell assumes. Damaging the laptop yourself is not covered in the warranty.

Yeah - I never heard of changing anything inside the laptop (hardware wise) voiding the warranty. Overclocking is what I seem to understand would void it?

Nope, not even overclocking can void warranty. However, overclocking beyond what Alienware recommends means you won't be covered for the time being you still have the beyond clocks.

It is covered in the Accidental Damage Service warranty. The upgraded parts are not covered if they shall fail.

If he had such warranty, he'll have to prove that it is an accident, which should be easy.
Nonetheless, he got the issue fixed.

It's quite obvious it was indeed an accident. His intention was to upgrade, and he accidentally damaged something.

It should be a fairly simple repair then. Ribbon cables are delicate if you catch them in just the right manner.
