Actually, i got the same issue: big stutter just after the boot (AC adapter plugged since the power on) when i unplug/plug the AC adapter the stuttering get away and after 8 hours of game without reboot: the stutter do not appear again.
One day i tried to play on max perf but without the AC adapter: the perf was horrible (normal isn't it ? :p). But the other day i plugged the AC adapter and the perf was EXACTLY the same like i was on battery, so unplug/plug the AC adapter and everything was OK.
So i don't think it heat related cos i got stock M17 and never overclocked it, and the stutter comes when the game begin and in vista (mouse lag etc...)

Sorry for my poor english, but i tried to give you my experience.

    Hope this help.

it's not a software problem so disabling anything won't do anygood. i tried to everything if you don't want to bios flash it or copper mod it. then get a dual core or sell it.

I noticed i oced it too high and the high performance plan is bad if you dont set the minimum power level at 25%.. it works stable on 3.0ghz now, seams 3,2 was just too much.. im selling anyway.. ive just had it.. i made so much of an effort to get this thing running i just cant think of anything else now when i play on it and it frustrates me.. it has to go.. i also hate Alienware now more than ever and that glowing head on the back pisses me off.. i wrote to them stating the laptop is not quad core compatible as stated on the website and they say it is and send the laptop back in with the p8400 and we can take a look if you want to keep you warranty. No money back, no replacement. Never AW again. Im 99% going for a clevo now.. either the one with dual gtx280m, the one with the desktop i7 or the one with mobile qx9300 and single gtx 280m.. if one with a i7 and dual gtx280 comes out that would be a winner but sadly no such model yet..
And ive decided to set the price at 2050€. Hope i can sell it soon.

I have applied the new B13 Bios and went through the whole process with tech support...was really smooth...after the flash I don't seem to have a stutter at this time when playing games like I did. We shall see if it continues no blue screen and I increased my 3dmark06 score by about 500. Not super but I did see an increase. So I hope this helps!! Success story so far..............................
