~First off, let me say my m9750 was no longer under warrenty and I only offer this post as one idea on how to tackle over-heating issues~

Running a m9750 SLI 7950 GTX with a [email protected] CPU (all the bells and wistles that were offered on release) I started having over-heating BSD's while playing darkfall a MMO, my GPU0 was hitting temp's of 103c+ while my GPU1 card was still hovering around 70c'ish. My Core temps were in the 65c's (and I believe higher but dont want to test it). First thing I did was apply the arcticsilver5. That lowered temps' bye about 2c-5c and seemed to level off the temps with the CPU core's but I was still hitting 103c+ when gaming.

    Since I'm a carpenter nerd .... I did this.

First thing I noticed upon cutting the back plate is that the vents for the primary video card are not even over the center of the card but off-set bye about 2 inchs. How this effects the normal temperature of the card right out of the gate I'm not sure but it cant be good. I tried this set up without cutting the back plate but the temperature drop was only a few C's

I moved the Cmos battery to the outside to stop it from resting against the heat coil and added some rubber feet so the notebook is not resting on the battery.

Then I cut the hole in my desk and mounted the fan. Fan was 16$ from kmart.

    and that was it.

A few steps I tried before this-
    Different video drivers.
I had always blow out the dust with can air.
Tried a 20" box fan behind my m9750. Lowered it by a few C's
I went to bestbuy (thank you 30 day return policy) and bought the 3 different styles of notebook cooling pads (targus and two getto brands, 1 with one fan, two with duel) The best was targus but it still hit 100c+ gaming.
I had always ran it on a targus podium coolpad.
I tried to modify the fan's with speedfan/riva

Idle temperatures on the 2nd lowest of 3 fan speeds-
    GPU 50c
    GPU 49c
    Core0 43c
    Core1 43c

Gaming with the 2nd lowest of 3 fan speeds-
    GPU 74c
    GPU 53c
    Core0 55
    Core1 52

I plan on wrapping the fan with a 75 cent mesh foam air conditioner sheet I bought and cutting strips of it so the notebook sits on a square like seal for dust.

Looks like the older design CPU/GPU heatsink!
Nice idea though I feel my Cryo NZXT cooler does just as good of a job at cooling, bear in mind though with the base off and blowing air in there on the m9750 it can increase HDD temperatures significantly as it disrupts air flow to them as I found when i ran mine without the bottom on top of the cooler :)
