My m15x is NOT running in dual channel but it's having 2 identical DDR3-1333 memory in both slot.
I cannot find any setting in BIOS to change it. What should I do?

    System config - m15x (UK):
    Intel Core i3 330M
    2GBx2 DDR3-1333
    Nvidia GT240M 512MB
    BIOS A03 :(

Yup, I had the same problem. Just load up CPUz, and you will see it's running in Dual Channel mode.

I'm using CPU-Z but nothing shows up in the 'Memory' tab.
The Windows Experience Index shows that the memory is having the lowest score amoung all components :(
*the memory is having only 5.9/7.9 in Win 7

WEI is pretty much useless...you need to rely on other benchmarks if you really care.

You may want to update CPUZ to yhr 64 bit version. On my M15x, it does show "dual channel" on the memory tab, though my bios(like yours) shows single channel.

    Good luck,

    Joe

I've downloaded CPU-Z 1.53.1 (64-bit) but it's still not showing anything about the memory. Whatelse may have caused this problem??

    Hi Lai_tsz_ho,

This may be a stupid question, but are you running CPU-Z with administrator permissions? The program queries the motherboard for its information, and should only report nothing if it gets no response from its probe. If you are (and I assume you are) running as and administrator, try the system information tab in 3DMark Vantage (free download for a single benchmark) at http://www.3dmark.com, and see if that tells you any information. If that too reports nothing, I would be calling AW as you seem to be having an undiagnosed issue that could cause more severe problems in the future if not handled. Good luck! :D

3DM is still not showing anything about my RAM.
Is it related to BIOS A03?

could you take a screen shot of your cpu-z, it should look something like this, when you pick memory tab.

I suppose it could be - few here have much experience with that bios, since the one that was provided (mercifully only for a short time) tended to brick the m15x.
FWIW, here's an image of the memore tab for CPUID for mine (bios A02)

    Thx InappropriateName_3 and Jdpurvis.
I wonder if I could downgrade the BIOS to A02?
Does A02 have issue of ATA mode like the A03?
I just can switch to ATA mode to flash the fw of my SSD><

    Hi Lai_tsz_ho,

I would not suggest trying to force flash the BIOS to A02, as if it is just a BIOS issue, it will be fixed in future versions of CPU-Z, 3DMark, or the BIOS. It seems that you have new revision of the M15x motherboard, which maynot be compatiable with the older A02 BIOS (your chipset revsion is 12, while most of us have revision 11). There is a bug in all current versions of the M15x BIOS (A00, A01, A02, and by most reports A03 as well) that reports "Single" when the RAM is in dual channel mode. My guess, is that there will need to be an update to those programs to recongize the new revision of the chipset your M15x has.

As for your lower WEI score for the RAM, it is probably correct as you have an Arrandale based Core i3 processor. These processors have the memory controller on the same die as the integrated video card as opposed to the same die as the CPU. So it is not as fast as the Clarksdale based Core i7s.

    Good luck! :D

wow could be a bug for the i3, your the first i3 system i've seen. only bios A03 supports the i3 to let you know.
edited: true what LinkRS said your i3 is lowering the score for your memory.

    Hi,

I have the specs as in my sig. The memory shows at dual channel and the WEI is 7.5. When I still had different sticks inside, it was something about 5.5

    Thanks all.
I'll wait for the release of new BIOS and CPU-Z to make sure the mode is dual channel then.
It fine as long as the laptop is set to its max performance so I wouldn't waste any of its processing power. Just want to make sure.
I'm fine with my SSD right now so I'll just pm mandrake whenever necessary.
    Thanks again for everyone's help!

One minor problem for my m15x:
Whenever I open the 3DMark Vantage, Windows Aero switches to basic mode.
Is there any incompatability issue between them or anything is set wrongly?
    I'm using Windows 7 64-bit

As far as I can tell, both 3DMark Vantage and 3DMark 06 switch out of Aero mode when starting. Not a surprise, since they take total control of all graphics for the benchmark. Not to worry.
