:( with the E-Value Code you gave, I configured the system I bought from it and it would have saved me $350.

    That sucks...

    How did you find it?

It still cost $200 MORE for me using the evalue code vs the epp+dpa discount. The only difference is I bought a P8700 and the code would come with a Q9000.

You can't compare an E-Value code that everyone can use with your EPP+DPA discount that can only be used by a few people on this planet. :D

Yep, the DPA works as well. It's only 3% now instead of 4%, but you get a total of 10% off when using EPP and DPA.

To use EPP, you need to either be in the military or work for a state. Do all of you here work for such organizations????

You obviously don't know what EPP is then.

Every employer I have worked for since I was 19 years old all had EPP accounts with Dell (I am an RN and every health care company did). Most major companies have an EPP account for their employees (think Walmart, etc lol)

The military does NOT use EPP - AAFES handles military orders and discounts.

Go to the top and under the "Deals" tab select As Advertised.

Then on the left you'll see an area to enter an evalue code. Or you can click on the catalog picture on the EPP home page and just select the configuration from there.

So for someone who is a student and not DPA, this code (to get the speical deal on specific config) and the 7% for EPP are the best I can hope for? (aside from one on one haggling with the sales rep over phone)

Now I may try selling the whitebook again.....damit haha

It only works on US orders delivered to the US. If you're in the US and place an order to be delivered in the US from the US Dell site, then use the E-Value Code. They're not going to ask your citizenship.
Your sig says you're in Estonia, and therefore if that's true you'd have to order from Dell-EU and have it delivered to you there in which case this E-Value code will not work.

Not only would the evalue code not work, you would also get charged a huge premium as they overcharge a hell of a lot for EU customers apparently. Definitely get this machine while you are in the US.

Thanks for clearing things up for me, and i'l never purchase expensive machinery from EU, mo****f****g robbers. Trying to protect their local companies from overrunning buy outsiders, but those few companies (if there is any?) don't produce anything, at least not with normal quality.

Now i got too excited.. sry for that, but it always ticks me off when i start talking about our great EU politics.... my arse, thats what it is.

well, here is something else to chew on:

    Dell (directly)
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000
    4GB DDR3-1066
    WUXGA 17" 1920x1200
    Dual Nvidia GTX280m SLI
    250 GB 7,200rpm HDD
    Slot Load Blu-Ray Reader
$2568.37 (includes tax and S&H - using EPP and the coupon code)

    MicroCenter (online only)
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000
    4GB DDR3-1066
    WUXGA 17" 1920x1200
    Dual Nvidia GTX260m SLI
    500 GB 7,200rpm HDD
    Slot Load Blu-Ray Reader
    $2299.99

    Shipping = $20

    Sam's Club
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000
    4GB DDR3-1066
    WUXGA 17" 1920x1200
    Dual Nvidia GTX260m SLI
    500 GB 7,200rpm HDD
    Slot Load DVD Combo Drive
    $2118 (includes shipping)

The Dell config may be a little different from what you got in mind, this was just what I had spec'd as it is what I am interested in. Should be able to get any of these within the US no problem.

You should also toss up the MicroCenter/Sam Club config (they're the same with the exception of the DVD) if directly ordered from Del using EPP and coupon code for better comparison. (i.e. do it with 500GB Drive and Dual 260M's)

Do they actually ask for anything to use the EPP?

Do you have to have an email from the employer?

What happens if they find out that you are not working for the company's EPP you are using??? Will they ask you to pay the difference?

I am looking into buying another PC for my brother and wonder if I could use the EPP and E-Value code safely. The same config than mine comes out about $800 cheaper.

This was more of me looking for suggestions as I will hopefully be ordering one of these in the next week.

The coupon gets me a cheaper config option for Dell that only has 280m SLI for graphics option, which is ok as I tend to want the best and will regret having to upgrade down the road for higher cost. I would also upgrade my own hard drives, that was the lowest option. I believe right now this is the cheapest way to get gtx 280m's. The base on the Dell special config is Q9000 , 1440x900 screen, GTX 280m SLI, for $2,299 before 7% off, so that is still an amazing deal if you ask me.

    :p

I would want OS X on whatever laptop I get after my MacBook Pro. Hopefully, Apple will release a more powerful MacBook Pro with SLI in a year or two. I wonder if the current NVIDIA OS X drivers work with laptop SLI. I could probably get a great deal with the EPP discount I can get through my father (he does do goverment contracts). What's DPA again?

Isn't Apple STILL refusing to add blu-ray options to their systems?

What a stubborn, stuck-up JOKE of a company.....
