Do you guys think that alienware will be announcing a new system at E3 2010? Did you guys hear any rumors or anything?

I'll be there and will have an appointment with Alienware. We'll see.
-
Well lucky you! I hoping and knowing some juicy stuff is leaked before then. Some already was on engadget. I'm looking forward to companies trying to one-up each other.
Alienware and blizzard are my ones to watch. -
I'm iffy on trusting what engadget says these days. I could be wrong though.
-
If I had to guess it would be the introduction of a Core-i M11x and the preview of a M17x w/ new Nvidia cards.
-
Both would be nice
I'm hoping for a M15x and 5870 combo. -
Now a 5870 combo would be awesome but with the 480X 2 gig who needs that but benchmarks will say it all. Charles keep us updated!

im really hoping for a new gpu in the M15x. and maybe a rgbled. that would be awesome
-
My guess would be (if it is not out at after the 5th of may), that the HD5870 CF option for the M17x will be delayed untill the E3.
This would be marketing wise the best step;
New tech + simple upgrade = easy money.
And there is no competition which is offering this config at this time. So it will be top of the bill, and why compete with the best, if you are offering the best allready!?!
Unless other tech Nvidia (SLI) is presented aswell. -

Man, I'm really hoping for a new system. I am holding off of buying an alienware because I'm afraid they might announce something good at E3.
-
Even if they announce a new laptop at E3 it probably won't be here to purchase until the fall.
-
-
Hehe!
I wish for a M11x with a Ui3/5 core, that would be awesome.. -
i really hope that an m15x upgrade will be announced on E3 or at least cutting of price, planning on buying one july, getting exited
-
A lot has been say in this useful AW forum about the comparative flaws of the Nvidea products.
I can't understand clearly those "technical" issues and flaws regarding the Nvidea comparative to the ATI products.
I will appreciate some light on this topic to be prepared to understand more "critically" the possible announcements.
Thanks! -
There's no such thing as "Nvidea", lol.

-
if they announce a new m11x... I hope they have it available by the start of school. That would be the best laptop for school
but if they don't, then the current m11x won't be bad either -
oh and btw i just thought of something. have alienware ever been to e3 before? I don't remember them ever being there, but then again, I never paid attention to them before this year. If this is their first time, that would certainly shed light upon whether or not they'll announce something.
-
-
-
sweet, so at least we know they've announced laptops before. thats good news for me. guess we just gotta wait till june 15 then
-
-
Yes. The m17x was announced at E3 last year. It was leaked around the end of May last year too. So around the end or May beginning of June we should hear something if new products will come out.
-
USB 3 and the new NVIDIA GPU's would be nice
Then I could be persuaded to say goodbye to my R1 -
USB 3.0 isn't that big of a deal and nvidia sucks. 5870's are a must.

I would prefer to take ATI over Nvidia if I can, but raw GPU power is most important for me. I will go with who ever has more power which may well be Nvidia providing their new 480M's out perform the 5870's enough to negate their monstrous power thirst and any extra heat and financial cost that will go with them. If not, I'll just stick with 5870's until the next generation is released.

Alienware/Dell usually keep strict NDAs. If I was aware of any new products/announcements, I wouldn't be able to say anything until the NDA expires.
As far as shortcomings of Nvidia cards go, you can go look up reviews of the desktop GTX 400 series cards; good reviews (Xbitlabs/Anandtech/Tom's Hardware) should highlight the flaws. Fermi is a new architecture, Nvidia has not worked out all the bumps.
-
nVidia is definitely taking a hit this go-around with Fermi. But keep in mind that they are thinking long term with this architecture, much like they did with the G80 core that was used for quite a few revisions of chips. It sucked at first, but it worked well in the long run.
Fermi sucks now, here's to hoping future revisions are more awesome. -
So... we already know that they've announced refreshes in the past at e3, and I agree, if alienware are to refresh the m11x or the m17x anytime soon, they'll at least announce them then. Maybe it'll be called the M11x, if Alienware wants to keep up its naming game.
Now to get a possible release timetable... when the M17x was announced at e3 2009, how long was it before people could customize them and alienware started shipping to customers? From what I know, refreshes take much faster than new product announcement shipments. -

If I remember correctly it was a week or two.
-
If I were them, I wouldn't refresh until the new Intel chips come out in Q4.

hope so, cant wait
-
I would be disapointed since I just bought my M15.
-
well, it wouldn't be that unprecedented for Alienware to refresh the m11x so soon. I mean, it'll be what, 6-7 months after product announcement, and 3-4 months after initial shipment? Alienware did, after, all, start shipping a core-ix version of the m17x only 6 months after they first announced the first "all-powerful".
I'm definitely counting down the days until e3. -
I am eagerly awaiting a solid M11x refresh. I want to get rid of my Eee PC, and after trying to iPad and seeing the wonderful job Apple did with the MBP 13 refresh
rolleyes: ) I'm ready to drop more $ on another, but portable, Alienware.
-
-
I hope that they come out with something mind-bendingly awesome at e3. I just wish I could go. I won't be able to afford an Alienware for 6-7 months, so I hoping they have something huge by then. Like tri-crossfire, 5TB SSD, 24GB of RAM, and dual 12-core 10Ghz processors in a 10" laptop with an expanding screen that goes up to 32" for a lower cost then a base model M11x. If that gets announced I will be so extremely excited I will punch a teacher.
