So after a month of waiting my roommate just got his Alienware m15x... Problem was, blank HD... no OS, nothing... Lucky for him I'm more than capable of setting up his laptop for him instead of sending it back to Miami... Only one thing, since he didnt buy the alien respawn disk i cant find the software for the Alienware Command Console thing... I got all the other drivers off of their website perfectly fine, but i cant find this. Could anyone help us out with a link OR, just zip up the associated files and maybe that will work...

    Eitherway Thanks!

Well. here is what it sounds like you did.

    1. Installed Vista using the Vista disk AW supplied
    2. Installed all the drivers you could
    3. Came to notebookreview.com because you couldn't find the command console driver

    Hmm I'm going to try to help, but I don't have a m15x :(

Also: Thats a dirty ass link by the way. I thought that was like a tech thread you made. You're doing one of those refer things. heh :)

Yea I found something you can try out.

    1. http://support.alienware.com/Support...port_Area.aspx

    2. Drivers + downloads

    3. Selections for the list...
    a. OS = Vista
    b. Select Mobile Systems
    c. Alienware Corp
    d. M15x

I don't know which one to try though. Maybe On-Screen Display Utility 00020, or Chipset Driver 8.3.0.1014, or another one.

Test that out and let me know your results :)

LoL Stone825... Yea where as my roommate has the cash to upgrade his laptop yearly i don't(so i beg)... as for your summation, its almost accurate...
There wasn't as AW provided disk, so i used one of mine. I did use the other AW drivers though, their trackpad drivers are nifty.

Step 3 is key though, cause i usually get great help here...

I looked there, and got most of the drivers from there... But nothing worked for the Alienware Command Console

Contact Alienware? He bought from them... why not contact their tech support and have the appropriate drivers emailed?

    ok I have a question,
alienware motto (build it as if it were your own) and 200 point check and testing and benchmarking

how the flip did this thing arrive with no o/s?
AW better not be lying to me , otherwise they can give me a £200 discount and ship the parts to me so I can sort the thing myself.

and missing o/s disk too, something is wrong very wrong
did your friend throw away the box? and possibly stuff he needed?

Yeah no OS that sounds kinda fishy to me. Look inside the binder that you received with your notebook all your drivers and OS should be in the binder

Yea dude I'm sorry but I don't think I can help you anymore. I have heard of people getting their laptops mugged. There is no way that you have received an Alienware that came with a Blank Hard Drive, no support disc, and no OS disc.

I'm going to go on a stretch and say that you aren't calling Alienware because it's a stolen system. If it is not a stolen system then I'm sure they can ship you out new discs and get everything handled. Or you may have to send it back.

That's another thing good about Alienware. You can't get support from stolen lappies.

I'm not saying that the laptop is stolen. But I feel as if there is a HUGE chance that this is stolen. I mean I know that they don't check their laptops that well before they ship them out, but I have been on these forums for a year now and I have NEVER heard of a case like this before.

Alienware doesnt send an OS disk unless you buy Alien Respawn as far as we know... so, no OS disk since he didnt pay the extra 15$ to do that... As for Alienware support, i called and was asking for help and as i said the only option they gave us was to ship it back to miami, which doesnt work since he is actively using the computer without an alternative for class... i dont need drivers, thats easy enough to find on the AW website... Whats missing is the stuff to do the binary GFX and the Alienware Command Console software...

Hanlon's Razor: Assume stupidity before malice.

If anyone has this bit of software, a little help would be greatly appreciated...

As for how/why this slipped past the 200 point check... Dunno, the woman on the phone said that this isnt the first time its happened and apologized profusely... So accidents do happen it seems

Okay let me say a few things.

    1. I purchased my system without alienware respawn. Alienware always sends a disc labeled "System Recovery DVD" which is basically a modded Vista re-install DVD. This DVD is not a respawn DVD. You should have all of the DVDs in your leather bound binder which is quite nice if I must say so myself. Check in the back for the installation DVD, its right there.

    2. By not sending the system back and getting the DVDs and whatever, you are pretty much just giving away a Vista license that you paid for, as I have no idea how you would install vista without it. (unless it is bootleg).

I just can't bring myself to help you in this case. I feel as if you probably have a stolen laptop or something. I MAY BE WRONG! But until I know that your system is actually legit I really can't help you out too much in terms of software. I just don't see how a thing like this could happen.

    4. My advice, just send the laptop back and you should have it back within 2 weeks minimum, I'm sure your friend can survive. Or just send it in when your guys are on school vacation or something like that.

This is my opinion (of course just my opinion) I think your room mate "found" a m15x and said hey I wonder if we wipe out the OS they won't be able to track it. Well see I know for a fact that if you have an account # or order # Tech support will be happy to send you the drivers. Also if they sent you a laptop without an OS trust me they would be real quick to send you out the disk. (happened to me one time they forgot to send me a driver disk). Like I said before look in your binder that you received the Disks should be there

yea Taco and stone, the leather binder is very nice and there is a driver disk there... The cap is cool, so is the tshirt and the mug... As for OS reinstall its kind of irrelevant as that disk does not have the Alienware command console thing... i just installed from a disk for vista i own and then used the code on the sticker on the laptop... i had already done that by the point we even bothered to try booting from the support disk...

Okay Taco, lets be honest its an alienware laptop which i would assume has computrace in the BIOS just like my dell, stealing it would be silly. Once again i cant like force you to believe me...

Im not asking for ya'll to make an iso of an alien respawn disk heaven forbid, i got it all but the binary gfx and the command console software thing...

I agree with Stone825 and Bofh

    This is very fishy.
    You get blank HDD? With

    Haha.

All you have to do is log in to your MyHive account. What is so hard about that? All it takes is your friends invoice number.

Everything is there. Drivers and Software.
Without logging in you can only download the drivers since those are publicly available anyway.

    Or as has been suggested.
    Contact Alienware.
Ask them for the OS recovery disk (Not Respawn, respawn just makes life easier by applying a factory image with everything already installed)
Pretty much the same result as you have to log into MyHive with your invoice number to download the software. (Command Centre, Media Centre Encoder, PowerDVD, Nero)

Phritz! thank you! youre a lifesaver... we've been so hung up on the trying to get this one thing we didnt even bother to try logging into the myhive stuff!Didnt even dawn on me to think they had them on the owner only section... I'm just used to dell having everything fully downloadable from the main support page...

When he wakes up in the morn i'll make him do the myhive thing...

And as for contacting alienware, like i said... they wanted the laptop back, prolly to figure out where the 200 point check system went wrong and other stuff... but he doesnt have 2 weeks to be sans-laptop... Either way thats irrelevant, thanks for the help :)

I never said he stole it. I said he "found" it. I didn't mean to come off as rude. It just sounds strange to me. Good one Phritz I had forgot all about MyHive.
