I have a laptop to sell (mALX - Alienware) and I was wondering if on the buy iy now price I could add in a couple fo bonus items ot sweaten the sale? The bonus items are a netbook (ASUS 1000) and a 22 inch flat panel monitor (Samsung). All of these itesm are used but in good condion.
I had planned on starting the bidding at approx. $1750 but having a buy it now price at $2,250 that includes the bonus items.
Has something like this been done before? Is it within Ebay's rules?
Thanks.

Don't include a buy it now price. People won't bid up to it. Better put the starting price at 0 and include a reserve limit on it so that you know you won't lose your laptop even if bids get beneath the required price.

hey, isnt' the mALX the one with the fancy lid? somebody's been looking for high-res pictures of the lid... maybe you could help him out before you sell that baby.

Yes. Start your price at 1 cent. Don't worry, it won't sell for 10 bucks. This gets everyone bidding, thus resulting in bidding wars, thus resulting in a higher price than most buy it nows. If you are worried it will sell for 5 bucks, then put a reserve but start the bid at a penny.
Also, you would save money on insertion fees since the higher the starting price, the more money ebay charges you.
As for the bonus items, yes, say if the bid reaches this about, you would include them. You need to make sure to say they are gifts. Otherwise ebay might take down your listing.
I'd also suggest you start your listing for 7 days beginning on sunday night and ending on sunday night. This is because most people are home on sundays, thus allowing more people to see your listing, thus increasing the number of people bidding.
A good description and a hundred pics would also help increase the final bidding price.
Also, if you don't mind shipping internationally, then that too will increase your final bid price as international bidders get into the action.
Beware of Nigerian scammers. They offer you $5000 for a laptop that is worth alot less and ask you to ship it to Nigeria.
FYI I'm a powerseller on ebay for 8 years. -
You might want to consider selling them seperately.
If I wanted the mALX, I wouldn't fell right about bidding up to the reserve, becaause I'd feel like I had to pay more for the item I wanted because it included "bonus" items.
You might get more selling them seperately anyway. Just a thought.
Good luck with your sale. -

Thanks for all your comments. One more question. I have an interested buyer who is asking me what my reserve price is. Do you think it is wise for me to tell him that? Right now he is the top bidder but is still $650 from the reserve I set.
Thanks! -
let the bidding continue a bit.
PS: have you been able to take the pics of the lid some guys here are clamoring for? -
Depends how nice you want to be. He just wants to know if he should move on or not. Not telling him he may help drive the price up.

Good luck with your sale Blazertrek50.
Would be nice if you would take a few high res pictures and post a link here for the fella that needs some pictures though. -

can't hurt i'd say

Maybe you can give him a ballpark of a coupe of hundred within the reserve. He wants to know if there is anyway for him to win it.
Yeah post the pics even if they are crappy. Better than no pics. People want to see what they're buying.
