Eh, Should i be worried?

Hi guys, Yesterday I contacted Sean about my m17c order and was told that all of the parts for my notebook were in stock and that i now am a prioiry case...

I later recieved an email from Sean telling me that although all of the parts are in stock, some of them are now being tested and this is delaying my order. As soon as the testing is finished i'll move to phase 5 and then intheory have my m17x in four working days...

Today i seem to have moved from phase 4, back, to phase 3...

Eh, if this normal or should i get on the phone?

i remember this happened to alot of people. for some reason the phase server decides to bring you back a phase before moving you past that terrible phase 4. it happened to me too. i went back to phase 3 and about a couple hours later i was in phase 6. i wouldnt worry too much about it.

 

Just posted in your other thread, im in the same boat. Gave CS a call and found out its a glitch on the website. As Exiled said though you'll get an email saying your in phase 5 shortly after.

So its normal(ish) i guess.

Lol, I use Opera as my browser. It has an auto-refresh function, at the moment hte phase page is on 30 second refresh... It's very useful for following threds on here too (",)#

The day before I hit phase 9, I was put way back to phase 3 (from phase 4) and then jumped through all the other phases during that same day.
I hope you will receive yours soon.

So, if my understanding is correct, no one in Europe has received the M17x yet?

 

oh, ok .. so how do u all find six thousand pound lying there to buy these sort of overspec'd servers that claim to be PC's? lol

haha i know how you feel it felt like that 5 days after i made my order and the weekends were unbareable because there were no updates to the phases but after the weekend i jumped from phase 4 to 3 to 5 which was really weird all in the same day hope the same happens to you

 

Thanks, so far it's 9 days to today, not counting the friday i ordered it... Yup weekends are bad like you said, no phase updates, no news, nothing.... (",)

I'm hoping that i move from phase 3 soon... don't like this going backwards...

i remember when i had to wait a month and a half for my machine. the first 15 days i was actually quite optimistic and felt i could wait a while. after that all of taht went down the drain and i wanted my m15x really badly. i was checking phases in school, and everyday when i got home. i was even checking email so much more frequently. i remember when it was finally shipped. i was updating the fed ex tracking page like almost every 10 - 20 min .

 

Think of it this way, as badly as you want your lappy...wouldn't you rather have them build it right the first time and test everything properly? I can completely understand your frustration man, I would be going insane. I hope it speeds up for you man the anxiety of waiting to play with that, god...I can remember when I was waiting for my lappy.

i had this problem as well.
the checks are made because like mine they found a faulty component and that is why they are checked before they reach the production line.

 

I wouldn't mind but, i only found out that this is "normal" after you guys here helped me out.

Noone from Alienware has emailed me telling me that i'll go back a phase before going to production... maybe this should be added to standard procedure.... nudge nudge, wink wink!

Hahaha...that could make things slightly bad for them. Well, at least you have some knowledge now and you are not in the complete dark. I would say if you don't hear anything today or tomorrow, give 'em a call. There is no harm in it. You are a customer waiting for your product.

Moved into Phase 5 within the last hour or so. So looks like its all ok.

 

Finally, phase 5 has come for my machine. It must feel good for him to actually get made to serve me ;-)

it really matters what you order if something you order is on backorder usually there will be a weeks worth of delay for each item... when they first started it... the motherboards for the lighted keyboard were on backorder so if you were getting a lighted keyboard you would be delayed a week or two because of that... and well the strenuous testing it really all factors into how good your system works sometimes it has to go back a phase or two and then they check everything again

 

Well i'm finally on phase 5, with my priority status i should have mine Friday... In theory lol

Your system wil be bascially the same as mine apart from the smart-bay drive, will be interesting to see how they compare... Not that i'm suggesting we're in competition, it's just that mine will be built by Alienware, yours is more a hybrid... with the personal touch lol

P.S. although it's great that i'm in phase 5 but, now the status page doesn't do anything until next week.... now, the not knowing is killing me... lol

 

haha yea i cant wait its gonna be soo sweet yea i decided to save some money rather than going with the smart bay drive i got a external how swappable hard drive enclosure and i had many 500GB HDDs so just used those... very true about mine being a bit hybrid loved it saved a bit of money

Wow, I feel very fortunate now because my m15x came around a prompt 10 days. Of course, different specifications and other things will alter the arrival date.
