A little bit but I'm not really using my GPU's... I usually just run on the integrated because my fans are so damn loud.
It only makes that noise when utorrent is open... so strange.

I had my fans changed on Friday and they never kick on unless I watch a video or play a game. And even then, the never run at full speed unless I play for a while. Before, they ran at 100% from boot until I turned it off. I almost sent it back. I got mine lat week, and since then I have had the fans, GPUs, and now an SSD is coming on Monday because this one doesn't support TRIM and Dell said it would. So far, very troublesome, but Dell has been a champ. Everything has been overnighted to me and installed next day or within days by a tech.

It's kinda funny. The tech that installed the fans asked me "Do you know what the easiest way to get into this thing is?" I said, "Shouldn't you know that?" He promptly said, "No, I am from Dell not Alienware."

So, I politely asked him to give me the fans and I would install them myself. I did so in like 5 minutes. This is why I do not understand why they won't send me the parts instead of waiting for a tech to get here with them. He was clueless.

It's called CPU whining and it is quite common. Search the forum and u will find lots of threads about it. Bottom line is that there is not much u can do about it though.

Yeah but it's constant and weird intermittent buzzing like every 3 seconds... it's annoying and I'm about to go back to my Dell Inspiron that's how bad it is.

that is not what's the f/w upgrade is fixing. It's fixing random clicking sounds when the HDD is trying to park it's heads.. it does not happen every three seconds.
What you describe is somewhat different.
you never said what computer you have...

if you say it's every three seconds it wouldn't be a problem to record a video with sound of the problem. do you see freezes while it's happening or is the computer behaves normally ? can you run a smart diagnostics on the HDD ? what does the disk management report of that disk, is it healthy ?

Yeah, haven't owned a laptop yet that doesn't do that. Had a desktop that did that too, but was too faint to hear due to the fans running.

I was worried it might be something else, but glad to know the name of it "processor whine".

I would scroll up/down a page and hear this noise come out of the laptop and thought "Work Time Fun!?"

Damn, my R1 makes that "electronic" sounds from starting up till shutting down! The sound is hard to discribe, it sounds like a cricket or something, like a small sound with very high frequency. I can hear it clearly when i dont play my music. And it's really annoying!

    Some1 help me plz T_T

Yeah i read that from pre posts ... T_T

    Just wanna make it clear:
    1. it sounds all the time, not when i open this open that.
    2. it's not the "happen-when-scrolling mouse" sound. It's much worse -_-
    3. I remember that it just only happened few days ago.

So is it the "processor whine" sound we're still talking bout?

mine was high hiss sizzling like sound. it gets worse when on battery. the sound was more than annoying, it's almost unbearable at night. i could hear the sound from a few feet away (sound proof room). after the motherboard replacement, now i could only hear the minimal HD clicking sound. funny thing was that the motherboard replacement was not even aim to solve the hissing sizzle sound.
