End the 4870 confusion (price , part # , and DDR type)

I can't wait to hear the price on this thing. They are already charging $100 for the update to a GDDR3. It wouldn't surprise me to see this being offered at $900 each.

As a side note, the complaining about Vista eating memory in your sig, grow up dude....Vista works fine now and EVERY OS uses memory....(and none to date have done as much as Vista does)

i'm very happy with my m17 actually it's the most powerfull computer in the area lappy and desktop (true most people in my area are not that much tech enthousiast) and the 4850s eat every game except crysis but i don't really like crysis

b ut maybe in 1 year or 1year an a half when the 5870s are out i'll get temptedd



@scook9 i know that every os eat ram only win 7 64 eats lest then that and the 32 bits vers of vista i used was taking 800mb so i'm kinda disapointed by losing 1.8 to vista LOL

 

they MAY be available for upgrade....remember the M17/4850 fiasco

Pending a hugely unexpected success for these cards, I will remain quite happy with my GTX 280m's

 

There is absolutely no point for anyone owning an M17X with GTX280M to upgrade and spend over $800 in a 4870 with GDDR3 RAM.

What a waste of an option.

On top of that they make the upgrade $100 more expensive than the GTX280M which is absolute non-sense if they come with GDDR3....

 

Actually, fat chance that you will get the upgrade for $800 anyway after already having the computer with 280's.

 

If you are lucky, dell will let you send in the machine for them to do the swap and they keeo the gtx 280m's and you pay the difference

But that would require ALOT of luck
