I recieved that once on another 'puter when I cloned & replaced the drive. I think I just proceeded and the 'puter loaded the driver for the drive. Happens on the 1st boot only.
-
Did you try Respawn again?
-
yea i did. Kept getting the same error.
-
Did you just put in any new hardware into your laptop? Ram, HD, CPU, etc...
-
What issue were you hoping to resolve by using Alien Respawn to begin with?
Let's start at the beginning.
0x0000001A is a memory issue stop code. I would suggest the first thing you do is download Memtest86 and burn the image to a CD. Boot from the CD and let the memory run through at least 3 iterations. If you have any errors (you'll know if you have errors, it will tell you), then you have either a bad memory module (more likely) or a bad memory controller (less likely). -
None of that. I just brought it off of ebay and it was shipped to me. before i started to use the respawn, the computer was working.

Try removing a ram stick and see what happens. -
Run a memtest. If you have errors, we'll get into reseating memory or figuring out which stick is bad (if a stick is bad).

Just wanted to inform you any changes made to the hardware by the previous owner, using the Respawn will not work as this is an image with original settings and hardware configuration from the factory. Try using the recovery disk instead and see if you still get the same error or if you are able to install windows wihtout the respawn disk.
If the issue still persists, run a memory test as suggested by other members. -
Also, check to see if you've got the original bios installed and see if you have the original A.W. graphics drivers installed. While you're at it, see if your other drivers are stock or at least updated through A.W. A different bios or even different drivers could cause problems with respawn making it think there is different hardware installed.

I started doing the memtest for an hour already. Its been on test 6 for a while. How much longer does it take? He are the screen pics.

Uhhh well. You've got a ton of errors... Definitely looks like a bad stick of RAM to me.
It says 2GB single channel, so I am going to guess you've got a single 2GB stick in there? Do you have another laptop that uses DDR2 SO-DIMMs that you could put in this laptop just for testing?
If not, I would try moving the module you do have to the other memory slot with my fingers crossed and run another test.
Also sidenote, I linked to memtest86 before but meant to link to memtest86+. Really, they're almost identical, but I prefer Memtest86+ because I think it's a lot easier to read. -
Yea its a single 2 GB stick. Looks like i have to buy one. But this has nothing to do with the hard drive?
-
Highly unlikely. It's possible that the hard drive and memory are both bad, but we know at least right now that there is a problem with the system memory. Let's start there.
-
Do you know where i can get cheap RAM sticks?
-
Well, I would personally get this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208407
Not only is it the cheapest memory on Newegg (well, cheapest 2GB DDR2 SO-DIMM with speeds of PC5300 or up), but it's also Transcend, my preferred brand both because of quality and the lifetime warranty.
You might be able to get memory for cheaper if you scout for it. I personally can't be bothered to save three bucks, and it'll likely involve an annoying mail in rebate, and I trust Newegg... so... I'd just get it there -
Thanks. one last question. is there any test i can run on the hard drive to see if thats working.
-
Who's the manufacturer for the drive? Each manufacturer makes their own testing tools.
For a general test, I use GWscan, but when possible I use the manufacturer's tools. -
Okay. I got it. Thanks for your help!
