I have a 24 inch LG LCD monitor
I plugged it into my m15x through my HDMI port
It looked good until I realized that the picture that is projected onto the screen does not fit it
The picture is moved slightly to the left so I can’t see my start button

I called LG and they said that they were having compatibility issues with their monitors and 8600m and 8800m video cards.
The LG rep Told me that the new drivers would fix the problem

And so it turns out, only the driver the m15x comes with works for the computer.

I don’t know what to do and I would really like some help getting this monitor to work!!!

    Thanks for your time...

Now are you positive thats the problem?

Because i would feel much better knowing that i dont have to wait for an alienware drive to fix the problem.

    positive? i doubt it.

but you can probably find a way to work around your problem until AW releases a driver that will do the job properly.

it seems we're all about due for a good driver update.

It is important that you connect the HDMI cable from your monitor to your laptop, while the system is powered down!

That solved the problem for me...

The only problem I got -> Screen output is only 1080p, but my external monitor supports 1200p.

I really don't know why there are so many people having problems with an external monitor, mine works perfectly fine. Hell, when I used it the last two days for a presentation at school using a Proxima from like 4 years ago it worked perfectly (and as far as I know it's the only Proxima with a DVI input, the cable I use is HDMI male to DVI male). Just plug it in with the system off, or if it's already on, then reboot. If the picture is off, either adjust it on the monitor itself, or using the nVIdia control panel.

maybe you can amaze me by telling me how to get my m15x to work on my HDTV then? its plugged in while the systems off, starts up, nvidial control panel detects the monitor, it says im connected, but gives me a black screen.

yes, its like that even at 800x640 resolution, and yes my tv is on the right input,
    connection is hdmi to hdmi.

There's nothing in my house that is HDMI to HDMI so I can't test that, but something you might want to try is to go through your menus to make sure that HDMI input is even on. I remember when I went to my friends house we had to do that to get it to work.

yeah.... my monitor keeps refreshing, detects the 720p from laptop and shows it

nvidia panel will have the monitor name HDMI + laptop lcd showing, as connected, but still no screen...

like i've said before, i've tested my m15x with 10 hdtvs from different brands, only got it working with one..

i don't know how i could be having so much problems conecting to an external monitor.. i really really don't know
