I know there have been posts about this, but I don't think I'm having the same problem as everyone else..

It seems to me that whenever I launch a game, I can play for an hour or so but the fans don't turn on and the GPU is at ~90-100C. In order for me to get the fans on I have to restart the computer, then they kick in and stay on.

This happens on cold boots and when it wakes up from standby. One other thing, if I stop gaming and the GPU cools down, the fans turn down...but once they are down, they won't start up again unless I get the GPU really hot then do a restart.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this? The power button trick doesn't help at all.

Yep - this is a definite 'call support now' situation. Give them a call and have them troubleshoot the problem.
