Ok, So my M15x laptop started giving me problems with the screen scrambling and turning blueish, so I call ALienware and they have me do some work to the laptop (basically resetting the lcd connector), once they decide that the computer is faulty, they send me a pdf shipping label to my email and I ship it on may 22, by may 23rd the computer is stuck in phoenix and they cant find it till today's date. After speaking with Alienware then with fedex yesterday I waited till today and I receive a call from Fedex asking me to describe the item, and that they recommend I call Alienware and tell them to start a claim, so I did. (alienware told me it usually takes 3 to 4 weeks for the process to end).
has anyone experienced this problem before?
I would like for alienware to give me my money back since I might want to buy a new laptop-m17x- and charge it on my American Express, because I get an extra year of warranty when I purchase any electronic with it, I am worried because knowing Alienware they might not give me the money back and actually build the same computer I bought 8 months ago.
Has anybody experienced something like this? any comments? any ideas on how to approach this furthermore?

Thanks a lot for your help guys.
    Sergio

You'll get whatever the insurance amount was for (Hopefully, the original purchase price).

That sucks, but it might work out in your favor (M17x).

    Good luck....

I know of a few cases similar to yours. Basically as soon as Fedex reimburses AW for the insurance amount you have to options to have it replaced or get the money refunded entirely. They may try and pressure you to just get a replacement M15x but don't give them an option and tell them you want the money back, and you WILL get the money back eventually, depends on how fast Fedex + AW move.

I was also thinking, I've never seen so many threads on having a laptop stolen or "lost" from shipment sites as we have in the AW section, as much as I like the huge black mysterious box it ships in you might think it's time for DELL to start thinking of a package that doesn't scream, EXPENSIVE GIANT PIECE OF SOMETHING CONTAINED INSIDE.

i do find something strange about how many systems get stolen by shipping companies or "lost" as they put it. To be honest I never really even heard about it happening till I came here.

Well, I never shipped the computer on the original packaging, problem was, since Alienware paid for the label, It said Alienware corporation and its location at the state of Texas.
I will wait a couple of days, since I already spoke to Alienware and Fedex to let them track the package and see what happens.
    Thanks for the comments guys.

    Update.
Alienware decided to go ahead and build a computer for me without giving me any options. What I needed was to have the money refunded to my Amex card, so I can go ahead and purchase the computer using the same card again, reason is I get an extended warranty if I use my Amex card besides the rewards.
What do you guys recommend for me to do?
Anybody knows somebody higher that I can contact within alienware that can resolve this? It seems that customer service cannot do much. If i have to escalate this to a legal matter I would do it, but I dont think there is a need for that. I am sure you guys have gone through this before. any advice will be extremely appreciated it.
    Thanks a lot guys
    Sergio

(Fedex lost my package the 23rd and until today the issue was "resolved").

Unfortunately your at their mercy because it was shipped by AW (they created the label).

You could find out if there was a claim amount -- if there was you could have a good case against them to get the money back.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help...

Problem is, I could have had alienware release the claim to me completely and I could have dealt with fedex myself, I didnt do it because I was told I was going to be given options as far to how I would like to get that resolved, I shipped my system with 4gigs of ram and I am getting it back with 1gig just the way I purchased it, and no extra warranty and no rewards.
All I want is the money refudended and I want to go ahead and purchase a new Unit. , I will purchase the same one that I bought I just need the extra warranty and rewards.
