Ffxiv Alienware Guild!

Sup guys some of us wanted make a alienware guild when ffxiv is launch. This is sweet man alienware users are elite when server are announce if ur intrested keep in touch

Well chances are that the servers will be so spotty during the first few days of launch the few hours between midnight and when my amazon copy arrives won't make too much difference.

This game will probably be unplayable for the 8 days of early access! Don't care though, I want to play now lol.

 

Age of conan early access worked fine. I dont see a reason why this shouldnt work.

 

Just going based on the issues they have had up to now with the Beta, they have even had to postpone the Open beta due to critical bugs, doesn't bode well for infallible stability in 3 weeks time.

 

I may or may not be in for this. The closed beta was alright for me... was hoping for some improvements with open... but yeah. Not looking good.

 

The only MMO I will play is the old republic. Ill be glad to join the Alienware (Europe) Guild then. Might be the only member though :x

 

If everyone is going for FFXIV you might be right

I don't know exactly what problems you had with the beta, but i'm sure this will be a fantastic MMORPG for the time being, when it gets released. Lots of contents and if the community is as good as in FFXI, i'm confident i will have a great experience with it. So, You shouldn't make a picture of something that is in Beta State anyway and look at it as something, that still will improve, that is for testing out gameplay and try to give feedback on the perfomance. If you don't like it, don't play it, but please don't hate it already

All very true! You have to take the Beta tests with a pinch of salt, it isn't supposed to be a game demo it is supposed to be to find bugs and comment and give feedback. When we actually get to play the full retail version I bet all the problems with beta will be insignificant next to the fun we're having.

I also am a total FFF.

 

Yeah, i'm sure there is a lot of data collecting going on aswell in the beta as you play. But i have to say, the Beta releated to performance, played quite well, for not using CrossFire, and i'm sure this will be supported in the full game, and we should be able to use high settings and such to enjoy the quality of the game. we'll see whenever the open beta goes live, if it's already implemented and how much they were able to fix from the closed beta. Anyway, i'm totally psyched for this game, as it was the main reason i bought a new shiny laptop and i'm sure i did the right thing in doing so

 

Yeah it was a big part of my decision to get a new laptop as well. That and starting Uni and can't really do much on the decades old beast I currently operate on!

The Open Beta is now scheduled to begin later today, it has only been a one day delay so obviously the critical bugs weren't too difficult to fix!

Ha i wish i could, but i always get an install error -_-' I try again, hope i don't have to download it again... but i think i still have a backup of the closed beta3, hope i can use this as base if it fails again, i just try.

sup grim i had that install error alot too need to have anti virus off and use another browser i was having probs with explorer so i used google chrome also i dl the file from fileplanet

* Anti virus off when install is at 99.9 percent it stay stuck unless u disable virus

LOL, you are absolutely right! Got mine also from Fileplanet, my Antivirus program just opened up and told me virus alarm, way to go S-E (I didn't see that so far, since i let it load over the night, or i was away from the puter, so i didn't notice)

Will disable it and try again, welcome on my M17x, S-E Trojan! Hope you sniff out every useful information you need to get the game running nicely on my lappy haha

Has anyone found out what world we want to use for our world.

 

Well the server names for the retail release are going to be the same as the open beta servers so I guess we can decide on one in ~4 hours time?

 

We should go Bahamut i have alot friends from ffxi bahamut i spent 6 yr there maybe some elites will join our invasion anyone have any server request we can vote im down for w/e

 

I think they are departing from the Summon-based naming in this game. I have heard they are going to be naming them after popular monsters from the series
e.g. Mandragora, Cactuar etc.

 

Is anyone's cpu fan running while downloading the beta?

 

yea i had system monitor up this thing uses good % of cpu lol

 

It doesn't bode well for the game when the downloader uses a lot of the cpu.

 

So I'm in, which would be the Server you guys are going to use? Bahamut?

(side note, I also had loud fan when downloading the game through the client.... enabling Stealth mode helped me spend a quiet night and find my game full downloaded by morning ... stealth mode is still usefull sometimes hehe)

 

Hmm, in the closed beta the servers were named after villains / final bosses from FF1-FF10, 10 servers. Is anyone already in the open beta. I cannot get a beta key at the moment, as it has been temporaly suspended. So we have to wait for it, so we can applicate for it again. Cheers!

 

Server "Cornelia" is among the names as it is where I create my first Character...

funny note, the character died there and stayed dead permanently, impossible to do anything else than watch its corpse... guess it is maybe why there is a version update atm

hehe no, when you die you have to open the menu and revert back to your homepoint, it's not automatic raise or setback it's because you could lie there forever and wait for someone to raise you, but raise is not implemented yet i guess, so port back

 

no, you need to start a new character from level 1. This makes the game more realistic.


obviously that is a joke, but it surely would make the game a lot more interesting (at least from a sociology researcher point of view). The gameplay would totally change. You would take a lot less risks when playing and be a lot more careful. Wouldnt be too much fun dying though from a stupid mistake

 

hehe don't know if there is a bug for real, it was in the beta like that, if you die, you need to open the menu. But i could not register for it yet, also i would have to wait anyway to get back home... Will see for myself how the game is running, either way, i'm pumped

 

I obviously miss the menu option to port back (of course I didn't search much).
Well right now my update is stuck at 47% since 3 hours, so we're all in the same state

 

Oh might be the reason why beta keys issuing is on hold again, so people can update their client, gonna see if i have to load everything again...

edit: well if it would let me connect and update o.o' i need more patience for that i guess ^^

 

So this updater sucks.I have a constant upload speed of 70-80 kbps but my dl speed is 0-8 kbps.

Hi Guys, This is officially my first post, I've got my Alienware m17x recently, you can say FFXIV was the primary reason for choosing AW, i suppose like some of you here.
I've been fighting with it since i got it, to get it finally now to a somewhat stable state and more importantly working with FFXIV.
Just wanted to say thanks to all who contributed, appreciated.

I'm quite excited about FFXIV, even though the closed beta's weren't the most impressive, but ill keep my faith in SE, been playing it all the way up since FF7, and enjoyed FF11 alot.

Would be definitely great to have an AW guild in FFXIV..
i hail all the way from NZ, so perhaps timezone wont be the most compatible with US, closer to AU time.

At the moment seeing as i got the beta code and finally got the open beta downloaded and i see there has been no concrete decision on the server, so for the beta, i went ahead and joined Wutai as thats from FF7, my fav FF =) Too bad they changed the server names from the closed betas. I was in Sephiroth all along!

so yeah, i suppose i would vote Wutai from current list =P
Although, to me it seems like SE changing server names around often, now it's FF area names as opposed to bosses, so no more boss server names. I wouldn't be surprised if they change the names again on release.

Why is it taking me DAYS to update the client? Is there a way to just download everything and not have it at the mercy of torrent(s)?

So what settings are you guys running on your Alienware and any luck with crossfire?

 

Here's my Settings. But keep in mind the game does not fully support the AMD/ATI cards yet, and the usage of the GPU's is not fully scaling. But i think that's either up to S-E or ATI to release a Hotfix. Anyway here the settings which i am able to use and play the game quite nicely for a Beta even on TV with Gamepad, which does have some lag from the server code /connection given.
