My laptop had a fried motherboard 4 days after I got it, I complained to Dell numerous times and they finally agreed to send me a new one + give me $250 back onto my credit card. The replacement laptop shipped out yesterday, I'm stoked! I also got a free bag with my original purchase making my total credits/free stuff add up to $340. I'm stoked to finally have my laptop back, even happier that I have some money to spend on upgrades :D.

Why didnt you just ask Dell to upgrade your GPU to SLI or even 280s instead of taking the cash?
this is what I would have done, would have saved you the hassle later.

Its nice to see Dell are sending out replacements to people as I think they would have struggled had it been Alienware support. And I could not imagine Alienware doing the right thing and giving cash back to people as is what has happened a lot in threads Ive read recently.

Well done Dell, this is the sort of improvements I wanted to see when buying an Alienware....good customer service and recompense if something goes wrong, not to mention all these discounts you guys speak of. I have not heard a UK or even European customer get these good discounts yet though!

Its funny how everyone says they hate dells CS and yet every board I go to is I got this discount and they threw in this and this, sounds top notch to me, maybe unorganized.

When I bought my M17x in the UK the 10% discount coupon for XPS systems was working for the M17x - think they've stopped that now, and it was down to 5% last time I checked. I didn't get the 2nd HDD when I ordered, when I tried to order the bracket Dell refused to sell it to me, when I threatened to return the laptop and re-order with 2 drives they offered me a 10% refund to keep it. I took that and Alienware customer support sold me one for £19.79.
System as spec'd cost £3717, paid £3343 after discount, then got £333.99 refund. By the time I'd bought the 2nd bracket my outlay was £3040. (I did already have the 2nd 500Gb drive)
I like Dell support for the money stuff but Alienware support for actually getting anything sorted out.

I tried to, he originally told me I had to spend the $250 on dell.ca and he would just ship the to me for free, I told him that I didn't want anything from Dell.ca and threatened to return the laptop if I couldn't get a credit back on my card. He instantly agreed and got rather upset with me. I don't care though :).

If you want to get free stuff, I guess just threaten to return it, it seems to be working for a few of us.
