This is just an FYI to all future m17x buyers: If you hate fingerprints all over your rig (as I do) then DO NOT purchase Space Black. I had the m17x R-1 Space Black for about 2 weeks and was constantly wiping the fingerprints off. It looked ugly after barely picking it up and moving it from one place to another. (unless your skin doesn't produce oils)
I can now confirm that lunar silver m17x's do not attract fingerprints in the slightest (hence my new order in my signature). Also, when you think about it, all of the lighting options for this laptop (besides the alienhead on the back) will be surrounded by black plastic anyways and will still look cool.
If you enjoy fingerprints, or plan on leaving your rig in one place all the time (one wonders why you're purchasing a laptop instead of a desktop) by all means, go with Space Black.
As far as nebula red is concerned, I have no idea. I would speculate given the images I've seen of it that it does not attract fingerprints.
A caveat: obviously the silver m17x will get fingerprints on it, the beef I have is whether or not they are noticeable under most lighting conditions.

The red shows fingerprints but it doesnt look too bad.

Thanks for the followup, Gatti

I had a black one and I never noticed any finger prints. But I suppose one could take a damp microfiber cloth to it and wipe it down. Also if you are using an external keyboard and mouse, fingeprints are not really a concern

FWIW, the m15x I am sitting on is grey, and it shows NO fingerprints thus far... this silver is actually more of a gun metal grey which is what I would have preferred anyhow. Now if only my m17x-R2 (in Lunar Shadow) would get here!

The black is still not as bad as the glossy surfaces. If you can get used to that the black is not an issue.
-
I havent had major issues with my black one.. Every now and then I wipe it down with a microfiber towel (only takes two min tops) and no issues.. Then again, i dont touch the computer directly if I am eating and get greasy fingers or my hands are dirty ect...
-
LOL, yes i'm getting tired of wiping off fingerprints on my black m17x
-
I don't mind the black..sure it gets fingerprints but whatever, they aren't really that noticeable and the only people who can see them are people on the other side of your screen. I doubt they will notice them either, they will be too much in awe of the awesomeness of the M17x that is in front of their eyes.

I had the space black and was concerned abut this too. But it was no problem. I only had to clean it so now and then with a mirofiber cloth. But I must say Iwould like to have a silver R2 as a replacement...
If only that insurrance company was a littlebit faster -
I just pick it up from bottom when i move it, or put it straight into carrying case...then no fingerprints on top!

This is what makes it hard for me to decide which to get. I wish I could just sample both and choose that way =/

the black looks so nice though

Just wash your hands more or wear gloves !!

I have Nebula red and still get finger prints. If you use your lappy your gonna get them, it part of life. The best thing I have found to keep my rig spotless is a micro cloth and cleaner for my Plasma TV.
Now I wondering.... do most people wipe from front to rear or rear to front. -
Rengsey R. H. Jr. I Never Slept
I havent heard about Nebula Red being a fingerprint magnet.
The only compliant is that not many user like color red.
I choose Nebula Red because I want to be different. On my first m17x-R1, I Choose Nebula Red also because it compliment the ATI team. -
I now have to use my girlfriends ultra slow HP celeron from the year1620.
