I've my m15x since mid May and its been faultless until recently. In the last week or so when playing TF2 and Day of Defeat Source (now also on TF2's Orange Box engine) I've been recieving fps drops, I play with all settings at a mix of low/med and theyve worked perfectly all along (stress test was 200odd frames).

However now, even in very ordinary areas of maps with no fire fight I drop to 10-20 fps, its like I've pressed stealth mode (though I can hear the mighty fans going still) I can wait it out for about a minute to 90 seconds and my fps comes back up, alternatively prsssing the stealth button (to turn off the 8800) and pressing it again to whack it back in seems to get the fps back up, for however long.

I'm still using the standard drivers that it came with (was terrified of underclocking the 8800, noob with drivers).

    Folks, can anyone help.

    Please and Thanks <3

all the newest except GPU. here, it's really up to your own preferences: better stability or better peak fps? each to his own.

You could try out the 177.92, 177.98 or 179.13 drivers from laptopvideo2go.com. I've had good results with all 3.

do you still have this problem? go to laptopvideo2go download the latest driver, or search google about powermizer switcher. Your problem sounds like the powermizer is changing the core speed of your GPU to save power...

Ditto. That would explain a sudden drop in FPS versus a crappy driver. Especially if this problem cycles, i.e., FPS go to crap, then return to normal, then go to crap.

How long's it been since you cleaned your fans/heatsinks, if ever?
