    Hello everyone how are you?
This is my first time posting but I do lurk here alot and read the posts quite often. I purchased a M15x back in October of 2008 and by January 2009, experienced the infamous hinge cracking that I've heard so much about. I know this is nothing new but just thought I'd share my experience since some people would like to know if this is still happening to systems purchased recently.

I also had a very discouraging customer service experience, well not so much with the service itself as they were very quick to have me send my system in for repair but more so in the manner that they went about handling it. I am typing all of this from my iPhone as I still do not have my system back, it has been gone a little over a month now as they are out of stock on the hinges and panel needed for the repair so I requested for them to just send me back my computer at this point until they get the parts back in which they told me could take up until another month from now. I just wish that they would have ordered the parts first, knowing they were out of stock, then had me send the computer in because I've basically been without it for over a month now for no reason. Other than the hinge, it was working perfectly and I absolutely love it!

Well, just wanted to share, I really enjoy this forum and look forward to learning as much as possible!

How can they be out of parts and yet are able to ship out m15x's to those of us who are brand new owners? I just got mine feb 3, 2009.

That settles it, I'm gonna make some metal clips and secure them to where the bottom of the screen close to the hinges. I've been checking this out and there appears to be enough spacing to allow for the clips. I'm not worried about warranties, I have only the 1 year warranty. I'm more worried about having to send my computer in for repairs and it take 40 days to get it back.

I'm thinking it's because the place where you send in for repairs may not be the same place where new orders are fulfilled but why have me send my system in then to just sit there? Why not order the parts first you know? I just wasn't happy with the way this was handled. Now I'm getting it sent back with the same broken hinge nothing repaired and have been inconvienenced for over a month for no reason. They did say though, that once the parts come in, they will have the system expressed to them, repaired quickly and expressed back to me. Let's see if they stick by their word on that!

Just to let it be known, I'm not against Alienware, nor the m15x. I love the laptop to death so far. The only worry I got is the hinges bursting open. Hope they fix your laptop in record time. I'm sure it sucks having to wait a month to get your laptop back and it not even be fixed.
