Hey guys so ive been playing around with my new system for quite awhile now and have gotten everything the way i like it.
But i just installed Mass effect 2 and im getting some flickering problems when i hit dialogue sequences. Only then not in game well i think i did when i was in the captains quarters once but thats it. Its quite annoying and im not sure what the problem is. My specs are in sig and i have 10.4 drivers. Also i have no problems with any other games such as Napolean total war, left for dead 2 , metro 2033 and so on. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Sounds like a crossfire issue with that particular game.

Have you tested it with the default ATI drivers from Dell? Also, you should update your bios to the new A05 version.

You don't have to keep the default drivers installed, you just need to test it with them. If it works, then it's possibly a 10.4 driver issue but if it still doesn't work then it's something elese.

I believe I was experiencing flickering issues in crossfire as well I switched from DX 10 to DX 9 and that seemed to resolve my problems, but is this a bad way to go about it?

Really? I don't recall seeing it. Is your steam name the same as NBR? Send it again.

As far as I have read then you should be able to run the game on one card instead(disable crossfire mode). At least this will deal with the micro stuttering in some games and perhaps also with your flickering. I suggest this as Joker said that it might be a crossfire issue and remembered the review article on Notebookcheck: Review Alienware M17x (i7/HD 4870 X2) Notebook
The last line could indicate that it could help to turn of crossfire mode(is that possible?). Anyway just my humble attempt of helping out as I do not have crossfire myself...

thanks ill try it and see how it goes.
another update the above temps were with my lappy proped up these are with them on the table i use. again another 3 hour gameing session of ME2 maxed

    Core 0- 95 c
    Core 1- 92 c
    Core 2- 93 c
    Core 3- 94 c

i dont have anything overclocked all drivers are all stock except my video drivers i just dont think these temps should be at all possible even for ME2 which by my standerds is very pretty but shouldnt be that demanding of a game. during this gaming session i did notice more flickering then when proped up so maybe temp is tied into this since im sure the processor throttles itself down once it gets within 5 degrees of 100c.
