Hey. I just got my M17x and when I press on the audio media buttons there used to be a little popup that showed the volume level. Now that is gone and I don't know how to get it back. Also the Fn+F4/F5 doesn't seem to dim the screen anymore.

Just a side note the audio playback doesn't seem to be smooth and seems to have artifacts once in a while. I know its not the audio file.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

to control the screen dimming it requires that the 9400 be turned on, either in stealth mode or hybrid. if you disable the 9400 then you can't controll the brightness. sometimes you need to go into stealth mode first and then adjust the brightness and then re-enable hybrid. it all depends on the driver.

still it seems like you may have a problem with osd, just reinstall it and it should give you the on screen graphics again.

I just got my M15x and occasionally I will see the same thing. Restarting explorer usually fixes it. If not, a reboot always fixes it. Annoying, but on my system if the on screen displays manage to load when I boot, they don't disappear. It's just that every now and then when I start up they won't be there.

Hey thanks the OSD thing was the problem. I just reinstalled it and everything is working fine again, thanks.

Also the audio problem I downloaded some drivers off the dell website and it seems to have fix it.
