The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

Mods, if this isn't kosher, just fix the wording of this, and if it's really bad, just remove it. (If you like it, feel free to adjust brand name part for other companies... DELL, SAGER, GATEWAY, etc., we can use em all!)

The guys on the NBF Folding Team are working towards a cure, and being as I know a lot of Alienware Users are here, and they tend to have rather powerful processors and GPUs, so why not use the GPUs when we're not gaming towards a cure? As it stands now, I have my NP8662 folding under v7, and it works fine. (I will say this, be careful if you have a 560m, it's not whitelisted for v7 and it's wacky with v6 GPU). We can use the 6990ms, the 580ms, etc., and I think it'd also be cool to have the vendors in this also. Not so much for the "my rigs are better than yours", but at the end of the day, the diseases that are out there affect many - and maybe all of us - in some way, diseases that are more destructive to humans than any of the little inter-business competitions that exist.

We have GPUs that are more than capable of keeping up with most desktops, and some are in tandem. Surely we don't game 24/7 either, so why not give some GPU and CPU cycles to a good cause?

    Come fold with team 213698

Just trying to put out something that does good for everyone, not just the NBR community.
