This is the only laptop where you have to install about 20 different types of things just to have it run normally, im so sick of this laptop if I can sell it for half the price I paid I would, but I probably wont get as much since Alienware tears you a new one when you purchase from them.
Now there are no lights at all on the laptop, im getting sound errors, stealth mode still doesnt work...So annoying.

I'm afraid to say, it's nothing to do with the m15x or alienware. It's your fault. You've screwed up somewhere.
I've reinstalled 3 times on my m15x, and it's all worked fine. -
I regret so much buying the laptop, I wish I got a Macbook, for the $3000.00 I paid only last year I could have got an amazing notebook and saved bigtime. Now I have to be happy if someone even offers me $1000.00 for this POS. My fault for buying the laptop.

Learn how to install and what order to do it in and it shouldn't take long. There are plenty of threads on here detailing what order to do it in, did you follow them?
-
shake - i offered you a price for the unit when you posted you wanted to sell it...was not the 1G you may want, but hey...... -
-
yea im silly for buying an Alienware, what was I thinking...
-
So...sell your AW then.
-
There's two categories, 1. PCs and 2. Macs and consoles. Don't give up yet!
-
-
<-- Some noob did that even three times in a row succesfully, until he realised the mouse was faulty.
-
yeah, i heard about him, what a total loser
-
well not total....he did figure it out after 3 attempts...
-
3 is the magical amount
-
Lol you guys deserve to be probed by swedish sailors!
-
They serve Kool Aid and cookies at the Genius Bar.
And don't forget to ask them a complicated question and watch them run to the backroom for an hour trying to look up the answer. -
I got it to work normally the 2nd time, but you what I still have a problem with Alienware. I think you will all agree with me when I say, that they should make 1 disk where once you click setup , it install every single driver you need and just does the whole thing by itself. Instead of you having to click one by one installing, then next then next, they should release a disk that does it by itself...
-
No, I do not agree with you.
If you're not smarter than the equipment you're working with, you shouldn't be using it in the first place. -
If you want something easier, get a Mac. -
Are you really thinking about selling it? I might be interested.
-
well, if you want automatic updates, you can write one for your own like findyikes(I hope I spell it right), see? Isn't that rewarding? You fix the problem and also benefits the communities
-
findvikas's the man you want
-
I think its called the Alien Respawn DVD.........yeah -
not. -
They were offering the single click dvd you were referring to for 50 bucks. Its called the alienware respawn dvd. It will restore your system with all the drivers
-
on my m15x, i didnt pay the ripoff price for the disc but is there a way, if i reformat and install vista64, to reinstall the alienware respawn 2.0 that come on the computer?
-
nope, because the respawn partition is 32bit-only.
-
so i would have to order it or something? (&&what if i reformated and it was 32bit, could i then?)
-
if you reformat and stick with 32bit, just don't mess with the recovery partition.
-
i really wanna up to 64, what should i do about the whole recovery situation then?
-
you don't really need it IMO. if something goes wrong, you could just as easily reinstall the OS.
-
srry m17 user here how do i need to burn the factory partition.? Do i need to do it like a linux live cd?
-
how do you want to "burn" it? image it? delete? copy it to a disc?
-
copy to a disc
(isnt it the same as there 50 dollar disc?) but i just realized i cant see it in vista ....i thought they had a back up partiton though
-
you can't see the backup partition in normal vista. with Gparted (live disk) or EASEUS partition manager, you can.
-
ok then . thanks and now how do i need to burn it ? does the partition just have a iso file on it ? i haven't seen any threads dealing with it.
has any one ran ubuntu live cd it doesnt seem to boot up -
no clue what's in the partition. as for the ubuntu disc, i used one in my m15x a few weeks with no problems.
-
ok ill try again ....
