Here's the deal.. I purchased my m11x from the dell outlet meaning its a refurbished model. All i got was the notebook and the power adapter, I didn't get any windows DVD or any other alternative.

I want to format it but i don't know how to backup my windows license. I suppose I can use the windows dvd from one of my other computers and leave the serial blank when installing until i go ahead and restore my license?

How would you tackle this? Any tools out there to legally backup my windows license?

    Thanks for the help! ;)

    1) You can call Dell and ask for a DVD.
    2) You can grab a legal copy of windows HERE and use the serial number on your sticker on the back of your laptop.
    3) if you don't have the sticker, download this tool to recover it and write it down (before you format of course :p)

The laptop still should have come with a Win 7 disc even thought it's refurbished. I would call Dell up to get one. When you have the disc, you do not need to use the serial number on the bottom of the laptop.
