All,
I'm currently using CPUID Hardware Monitor to keep an eye on my system temps, and I've noticed that the NVIDIA 0x0862 (I'm guessing this is the 9400M) is running at 73C at idle compared with the GTX 260M's which are running at 51C and 49C respectively. Under load (AION with the graphics maxed out) I'm getting 91C on the 9400, 76C on the first 260M and 49C on the second.
Is such a dispairity between operating temps normal or expected?
I am OC'ing to 2.304 and processor temps seem content to hang out around the 77C mark (all four cores are between 72 and 80).

Your CPU. Heatsink temps are a little high ... But the 9400 should be about 70-75 maybe 80 but it will be higher since it's your chipset ...
If you can I would replace the CPU thermal paste -
That 9400M is running a little hot. It normally does run a lot hotter than the graphics cards though, because it's also the northbridge/chipset as well as the intergrated graphics chip. Should be hitting about 80C under load.

The other thing to note, is apparently Aion doesnt make good use of secondary cards in SLI/Crossfire right now so that'd explain the temperature disparency between the 2 260's.

Thanks all. I realized this morning that my temps might have been a little on the high end because I was using my Allpowerfull on a thickly carpeted floor...
After moving it to the table the temps dropped considerably. The 9400M is now running at 55C on idle and 68C while under load, and the 260M that Aion seems to be using is at 50C and 64C. So location seems to be everything.
Thanks Alexrose1uk, for the it about Aion not making good use of the secondary card. I didn't know that, and just assumed that because its such a visually stunning game, it would be designed to take advantage of SLI. -
wow..................

Yeah wow. Now if Dell would just send me the secondary drive bay with the freak'n interposer so I could install the second harddrive they sold me...

ohh yea i love 2 HD's
and the comment in my sig is because i have seen a couple people doing this .. -
I'm honored, I made Moo's signature line! And I've only posted five times!
I'll love my 2 HD's once I get everything I need to install the second one. I thought I had ordered the system with two, but after it showed up with only one I checked my order and realized I had made a mistake. Since then Dell has sent me a drive, and two drive bays, missing the SATA connector both times. Just got off the phone with them yet again with the promise that the third time is a charm, and they'll express it to me so I'll have it by Tuesday.
