hi there guys
ive been having trouble with my 3dscores,5000ish points.
AW tech today said its the drivers and thats not bad for the duel 8700gt s. yeh right!!
Told me news ones will be avaible in 2 weeks.
but when we tested the cards in 3d mark the temps were good
Ive been playing GOW for 20 mins and closed down to look at the temps, one card was 70 c and the other 111 c thats well to high!! aint it
also the cpu temps were at 80 to 90 c
What do u think of that?
-
What kind of computer? I'm assuming an m9750. Mine got 7300 in 3dmark06 with nothing disabled.
-
I think there may be something wrong with the fans - can you hear them/ does their intensity change?
My M15X came with something called Thermo Fan - check to see if your one has it as well. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
are you sure is celuis and not farenhit
because the computer is suppose to do 1 of 5 things at that temp
bsod
burn you
smell hot
shut off for 5 min
melt
what are you using to moniter it
what are your specs
do you have a laptop cooler -
111C is definitely on high for GPU temps. I'm pretty sure your GPU was downclocked due to the heat, hence you get lower scores in 3dmark06. As for CPU, they are on the high end too (I'm assuming the 80-90C are during load, and not idle temps).
You may want to try different drives, and clean out the dust on your fan/grill if you haven't already done so. I would also try and contact AW and explain your situation again, emphasizing the 111C on one of the GPUs. -
Sorry for not being clear.
M9750
intel 2.33
8700 gt sli
4 gb ram
yeh it was Deg c,it seems to be so much higher than the other card.
And the cpu was high again Deg c.
ive only had it 2 months and its just back from AW,working as it should so they they said!!!
Iam running it on the 174.16 drivers -
have you checked the dust built?
-
Iam using HWMonitor 1.09 to monitor the temps
Ive checked the fans and heat sink fins and they seem spotless -
I had similar problems with my m9750. One card was getting to about 101 degrees celcius the other was at like 84, although I had 7950 GTX but its pretty much the same problem none the less I assume. To fix mine they replaced a graphics card and the heatsink, I'd call the Alienware tech support again and ask them to remote connect to your computer to see for themselves.

Its tricky to look for dust... its usually not visible around the fans.
You need to use a flashlight to look through vents for the dust. Point the light at the fan, then look through the exhaust.
- If you can see light clearly, then its not dust.
- If you can barely see light (or no light at all), you better get some compressed air and push the crap out (both ways)
If its all clear, then you might need to check if the heatsink is secured on the video modules... and looseness or gaps will cause heating issues since the heat is not transferring toward the heatsink efficiently. -
I see what your saying! ill give them a call today, hopfullythis has been the problem from day one.

A idea if you have like a glass table or something so you can see the fan turn on or not. Try the game while the laptop bottem off so you see the fans. Play the game for 5 mins or so and look under the glass table. and check to see if the fans turn on. My Area 51 5550 fan would not kick on. Unless I reboot. That confused about 30 techs from Alienware and a tech who came to my house.
1 The Fan wire could be lose.
2 Replace thermal paste.
3 To much Dust. Like playing your laptop on a Bed or pellow or your lap.
4 Reboot the computer and see if the fan will kick back on. which could be a sensor problem. -
Hey guys
I spoke to AW today and they are sending a new slave card out,and artic 5 paste.
Ill have another good look around when iam replacing the card.
GPU temps(too hot)
