Hey Guys,
Last night while playing Crysis Warhead on my M15X, i just noticed that my GPU- z is showing temperatures at around 75` Celsius at ordinary clock speeds of 550/950/1350...is it normal..????

thats alittle high for stock maybe time to reapply some thermal compound.
but your still no where near the danger zone. -
Hey can you please throw some light on "reapplying thermal compound"
And i guess the reason for high temp. is also because of the weather in India..as it is a summer time the temp. hovers around 40-45 degree celcius...which in turns heat up the laptop in high gaming sessions..
Please correct me if i am wrong...and also please let me know the danger mark...thanks for all your help. -
Depends on ambient. But temps are fine. Well within the safe zone.

if you read this thread you will see that using better thermal compound will result in a lower overall temps.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/480075-replacing-thermal-paste-m15x-i7.html
and yes if surrounding temps are high it will bring your laptop temps up too.
but 75 is very acceptable, the danger zone is going past 90. so you still have a bit of room. -
My M17X was hitting 96 when gaming, obviously an issue. I decided to open it up and when i removed the video card's (leaving the heat sinks attached so i would not need to reapply thermal paste) i found that the heat sink itself was covered in caked on dust which was pretty much preventing any air flow through it. Cleaned out all the dust and my Idle temp dropped 20 and when gaming i don't even break 70 anymore.

Non-game activities is 69C.
It's strange cause my laptop is brand new. Like 3 months old.
Asus G60vx.
I'm afraid to open it. I don't have experience on it. Also i'm worried about the guarantee. Should i really worry about the temperature?
The computer hardware shouldn't have already an in-build system to turn off the laptop when it reaches risk temperature? Cause ASUS or Nvidia doesn't have any tool to check the temps. Well, Asus have, a horrible one. But only for HD and processor. Ntool doesn't work on my laptop. I got the BSOD.
P.S.: please tell me which program do you use to check the temps. Between Realtemp and HWMonitor, I got 10C difference. So the program makes a huge difference, since we all know its not accurate. -
Asus are known to run hot. So it is considered "normal" but not really good. I vaguely remember people replacing the paste on theirs and end up with better temps.
-
There is a laptop that is known to run cool??
Anyway, seems that it's normal. According to Notebook Check Review ( Notebookcheck: Review Asus G60VX Gaming Notebook) they say:
GTX 260M Temp. at 75 degree Celsius at normal clock speeds.
