    Hi guys,

Just a heads up here really. My rep had told me of the upcoming availability of 580m and 6990m for the M18x and he was spot on. He also told me yesterday that the current 460m and 6970m will be withdrawn as options soon.

Now, the good news for those who want to order can now do so with a Single 560m for M17x or Single/Dual 560m for M18x as of now.

Again, these offings are not live on the UK website at the moment but my rep can manually take orders for them.

Pricing is obviously cheaper and I will edit when I get more info on this.

If anyone wants my reps details, either post here or PM me.....

    Cheers
    Stevie. :)

    Quick update with prices:

The single 560m will be offered as "included in price" as the base card for both systems. Then it will go as follows:

    M17x R3:

Single 560m (Stock) = Included in price
    Single 6990m = additional £192+VAT
    Single 580m = additional £350+VAT

    M18x R1:

Single 560m (Stock) = Included in price
    Dual 560m Sli = additional £159+VAT
    Dual 6990 x/f = additional £417+VAT
    Dual 580m Sli = additional £892+VAT

There will be no option for a single 6990m on the M18x. The current offerings of 460m and 6970m on the UK website will be withdrawn / made EOL but I dont have a timeline or that.

There you go. Hope it helps someone. For more info, feel free to PM me.

Helps me out a ton. Now I can finally expect the 560M sometime soon.

I still think Dell should offer the M18X with single 6990M and 580M as an option as well.

If you are in the UK, you can actually order with any of the above configurations. They arent on the website but can be manually configured by a rep. Some rep's may not know of them. Mine does and can take orders. Anyone who wants to do so can PM me for details.

I agree, a single 6990m or 580m in the M18x would be good....unfortunately, afaik, its not going to be an option at this point. :(

Nope, not in the UK. I'm awaiting 560M availability in the US.

The EOL on the 6970M makes some sense if the 560M is a better/equal option, but the AMD fanboys won't be happy about having to step to the 6990M as the only option.

Still, GTX 560M as the base GPU is really nice. Hope this happens really, really soon over here.

Good point. With no Single AMD option for M18x, its a sucker punch really for AMD fans....they will have to stump up the $$$ or £££ for a Crossfire setup if looking at the M18x........who knows, maybe Dell will rectify that but afaik, only one single card option is available on a dual card capable system at any given time....probably unlikely that Dell will give the option of a single 560m AND a single 6990m on the M18x at the SAME time....

Dell has always done weird things to attept to force buyers into buying the upgrade options. It just happens to work out this time that the M18X with a 560M will have everything I want as the base...well other than the 2720QM, but that's just a $150 bump.

It makes sense from a production standpoint to have 560M/6990M/580M as the options, rather than 560M/6970M/6990M/580M, 3 GPUs instead of 4 probably makes for a lot less inventory and will probably result in more profits as even more people will spring for the 6990M or 580M one way or the other.

I think Dell is missing out on a lot of sales by not offering more options with the M18X though. There aren't a lot of 18.4" notebooks these days, and plenty of people would probably spring for the M18X over the M17X R3 and similar 17" notebooks if they could get the specs they want. Sure, they'd have to stock 4-5 GPUs to offer different price points, but as long as they sell, so what?

Anyway, just chatted with a US Dell rep. Still no official word over here on the 560M at all. Might be a while, or happen on the site before anything else.

Yeah, might be some time before US reps get the info. Somtimes its weird like that.....I recall that we in the UK got the go on the 5870's for the M17x R2 before the US......I would have thought you guys in the US would get the drop ahead of all of us with Dell being a US based firm.....I can only assume that they wanna test out other market responses before releasing at home, if you like. Not sure. Also, you will ALWAYS gets some reps who dont know what they are talking about.....ask your grandma and she will have more info than they do lol........

I think it has something to do with the GPUs being made in the eastern countries, which is closer to the Dell/Alienware assembly lines for those parts of the world, so they wind up in those markets and even apparently Europe before getting all the way over here to the Texas plant.

I think it was quite a bit of time between your earlier info about the 580M/6990M availability and then the time when the US finally got it, hopefully its a lot quicker on the 560M. Tomorrow would be nice.

Thanks for the heads up. Lets move individual platform discussion to the subforums. There are threads concerning the new NV options for both in each sub.

    Thanks.
