wow 330 more. I suppose it will work though :D

Nvidia are a dedicated graphics company whilst amd are not. but hang on amd are flagging in the cpu sales for its traditional market, so how long before amd slide into bankruptcy ? they make a mean piece of hardware but their software is legendarily poor.

its like making a fantastic cake and then putting dog crap on for icing

currently the 7970m runs Metro 2033, Crysis 2, Max Payne 3 and Battlefield 3 on average 10% better than 680m...

    /I disappoint...

I'll need to see that here at NBR in our own benchmark threads in order to believe it. And, even if it's true, I'd like to see 3DMark11, Vantage, 3DMark06 and a larger selection of games. Are you referring to SLI versus CrossFire, or single GPU configurations? NVIDIA normally does much better with SLI than AMD does with CrossFire.

Agree with you Mr., But i dont understand as AMD these days come out with serious graphics hardware but why dont they focus on driver issues, as if they provide better driver then they easily beat Nvidia by a lot margin, as AMD hardware are cheaper. Even i have said same thing to AMD support, they just replied me that they are tryin their best to support hardware.

hi first time on the forum and first time buying a gaming laptop so hello every one.anyway i ordered my m18x last week 2 days later the gtx 680 popped up on the alienware site. for a couple of days i tried to ignore this but the more research i done the more sense it made to get in contact and change from 675sli to 680 sli.first time i emailed i was told my m18x was in production and that my finance would not cover the upgrade i kind of knew that so basicaly the answer was no. so today i sent another email saying the cards i ordered were not although very good cards exactly what i wanted and could they do the upgrade to the 680 sli. they are an extra £580 which will not be on my credit agreement but i will pay on my credit card. just waiting on a reply its sun1st so wont get one till mon 2nd surely that should be ok and not to much hasstle after all they are experts in this field anyone done anything like this before with success surely its just like adding new memory or a hard drive for them after all its a lot to pay for something that isnt the best nvidia setup.

p.s hope i haven,t barged in on the wrong thread

Hi there, Jimmy. Welcome to NBR and the Alienware Community. Glad you joined us. Congrats on the decision to purchase an Alienware beast... good choice.

You may have to cancel your order and start a new order with the desired GPU. I think it would be worth the extra wait and expense to get the GTX 680M versus the 675M. Go check out this thread and get Rev or Rachid to help you with it. http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/669327-alienware-sales-assistance-thread-redux.html

    Hiya Jimbo,

Just to follow on from Mr. Fox, you may not be able to cancel or ammend your order once its gone into production, unfortunately. If you find that you cannot, you may have to take delivery of it and return it within the UK 7 day returns window. We in the UK only get 7 days to return (unlike the US 21day period) so you would need to be on the ball.

You can try the thread linked above or you could try this thread here http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...ssories-please-contribute-93.html#post8660057 as both will hopefully get you a good price on a new machine with some discounts.

    Hi all!

I'm new to these forums - so if there's something I'm doing wrong let me know :)

Anyway, I've found these guys in the UK who basically sell Clevo laptops. I'm looking to buy a laptop with some of the best specs for gaming: I was looking at the GTX 680M, or if not then the GTX 680M SLI.
I can see that the GTX 680M has been bought and confirmed to be very good (I'm not really a Radeon fan, I like the gaming supported drivers from Nvidia). I haven't heard much about the GTX 680M SLI; does anyone know about that one yet?

The only I worried about, is the heat these graphics cards may produce: Especially the GTX 680M SLI. Does anyone know about this kind of things? Say I wanted to play BF3 on Ultra with the SLI cards, approximately what temperature will it go up to?
I know laptops produce a lot more heat then desktops, but at the moment a laptop is what I need.

    Thanks!

Well techinaly, this question should be asked in the sager/clevo form if it's a re-braned clevo --> Clevo Forum and Sager Forum

Besides that, i don't know about the clevo owners; from what I know, the M18x onwers don't have any heating problems that I have heard of.

Nope, no heat problems with the M18x... CPU or GPU, AMD or NVIDIA... all have excellent cooling.
