Hello folks, I decided to make a thread listing games that support AlienFX. If there are any that I missed please be sure to post and tell us what the game does exactly.

    Games that Support AlienFX:

    • Supreme Commander 2 - Switches color depending on faction used. Blue for UEF, green for Illuminate, etc., keyboard flashes Red and Blue when Strategic missle is launched.
    • Dark Void - Flashes keyboard lights based on different situations.
    • Sacred 2 - Makes the lights flash excessively. Can someone elaborate more on this one please?
    • World in Conflict - Flashes a yellow and red strobe when Nuke is launched.
    • Fallen Earth - Flashes keyboard yellow when you gain AP or a level, then goes dark.
    • The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
    • The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition
    • Cities XL
    • City of Heroes: Going Rogue
    • Blacklight: Tango Down
    • Blacklight: Retribution
    • Jumpgate Evolution
    • Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West
    • League of legends
    • Fable III
    • Dungeon Siege III
    • Magic The Gathering 2012
    • World of Tanks
    • Overlord 2
    • Payday the Heist
    • APB Reloaded
    • Serious Sam 3: BFE
    • Battlefield 3 (with 27 April 2012 patch)
    • Quantum Conundrum
    • Nexuiz
    • Orcs Must Die 2
    • Hotline Miami
    • Transcripted
    • Microvolts
    • Heroes of Newerth
    • Mass Effect 3

Yeah I started up Sacred 2 and my keyboard flashed in all different areas..at first I thought something was shorting out on my R2 because it was one of the first games I played... lol. Haven't played it enough to know what other types of flashing it does, but I can confirm that the keyboard flashes in different sections when it first starts up.

In dark void, the keyboard turns white when you're airborne. When you shoot, the keyboard and alienware name flashes red. When you're hit by enemies, the keyboard turns red too. It turned orange on explosions I think. Don't have a good camera to take a vid.

it seems that Eve Online makes use of the AlienFx API. When you get a low shield, armor, or hull warning, the lights on the keyboard start flashing. Very cool stuff, all-be it a bit distracting when your trying to warp the hell off grid.

[Edit] I'll do a little more testing and get you the exact behaviour.

The keyboard/speakers flash Yellow when you exit shield, Orange when you exit Armour and Red when you're on your last legs in Hull, The only downside is the keyboard is always black until these events :(

If you set an advanced profile for The Eve EXE.exe file it will display that lighting scheme until you hit the shield warning, after that it will go dark until the armour warning and the same for hull. So it is possible to have the keyboard lights enabled while playing. At least this is what I have observed on my M15x.

I had been meaning to try that, Shame it sounds like you'd have to exit to 'reset' the theme again once you have hit the first warning...

Thats correct, Alt+Tabing out and then back into the game resets the lights to your theme.

Any chance we can get the OP updated to include EVE Online? Or do you need more info/confirmation?

Also for EVE online, it works even if you have multiple clients of eve running, for example, if one of your other account has reached his destination (autopilot) it will flash blue even if you are in other client. Very cool stuff!

Any way to make WoW work with this program?

I know you probably have to customize but w/e LoL

I know you can make colors change using CC when you start a program but like on my Rogue when i'm getting attacking having my keyboard pulsate red or something, possible?

    Any help would be greatful.

Sorry Nivaku - unless the Game Developer includes the necessary code to call AlienFX, its not something you can change.

Does Witcher use it? I know Witcher makes my 1710 do some lighting tricks but not sure if it uses Alien FX.

The only game I have that interacts with it is Dark Void. Would be nice if Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 and Fall Out New Vegas supports it.

I just got the m11x used from a forum member and saw Steam had a deal for $2 that you get Eve and 30 day trial. Figured why not, I'll check this MMO out. I thought something was wrong when the lights started flashing LOL

I was sad that the keyboard went dark though.

Pretty cool that it'll flash blue when auto pilot is disengaged. I have put the laptop down and watched TV while it's doing it's thing and my peripheral will see the keyboard light up and know I need to pick it back up.

I just called Dell to make sure and ask, but no one seems to have a designated list.. which is stupid because that could be a big point to sell to customers.

Nyways, he seemed to tell me that his computer said that most Activision Games (or at least alot) have ties with the Alien FX (and he seemed to read what the OP put word for word, so it might have some truth to it).

So if anyone cam start testing, you let us know. (That or if you can find out more)

Hi, all. I didn't read the whole thread, but an Alien sent me this list via email when he heard about this discussion.

    - Sacred 2
    - The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
    - World in Conflict
    - Dark Void
    - Cities XL
    - Fallen Earth
    - Supreme Commander 2
    - Eve Online
    - City of Heroes: Going Rogue
    - Blacklight: Tango Down
    - Jumpgate Evolution

    Edit:
The Alienware Developer Relations Team is talks with several game developers about implementing AlienFX. The team plans to announce and launch several more titles throughout the summer and into the holiday season.

No problem. Too bad you could not come to Round Rock for our CAP Days event. We gave out free Streaks to everyone in attendance. (kidding, but they did get to play around with them at one point.)
I also noted there were 3 pretty cool looking custom painted Auroras on display at one of the venues.

Yeah - I would've liked to have been able to attend. For those of you wondering, Alienware/Dell put on an event for Customers and Bill had invited some folks to attend - I was stuck and wanted to go but could not. Not sure who went from NBR... anyway, not to move the thread off topic.

    IMO, World in Conflict.

I didn't like the changes from SupcomFA to Supcom2, so that last is a wash, for me.

I like RTS games, so those are the only two I would even bother looking at from that list :p

well as for wow, ((and correct me if im wrong as i currently dont have my m15x)), doesn't the alienfx use .ini files? so couldn't by technicality a addon for world of warcraft be used to create said file for alienfx to read off of?

You don't need Blizzard to do it, I'm almost positive it could be done through LUA, we just need an enterprising coder to do this for us.
