So I placed an order for the m15x last Sunday the 17th. Had no updates or anything, so i called em up on Thursday and the guy said that the order is delayed because they do not have keyboards in stock. Yesterday I received a voicemail saying that the manufacturing department has no idea when the keyboards will be in stock and they will update me on the 28th... Ive tried calling dell today so I could cancel my order and get a m17x instead, but since I used the EPP discount they keep transferring me to dell small business department which is closed on weekends. So there is pretty much no way to speak to anyone about my order this weekend. Now this just pisses me off to get my order delayed because of a dam keyboard and now I am unable to speak to anyone.
Does anyone know a phone number I can call or talk to a manager without being transferred to A CLOSED DEPARTMENT??
I get better service at mcdonalds for buying something worth 5$ than at dell for buying something worth 2000$

Wait until Monday. It's not that big of a deal.

It's not a big deal because there is only one day left before you can cancel your order and get an M17x instead. I personally consider out of stock keyboard is a good thing because M17x is a better choice atm.

its not a big deal because it happens and dell can't always have everything. The world isn't perfect.
besides you didnt pay 2 grand
You dont actually pay until it ships -
Big deal, those of us that ordered an M17x-R2 have been in the build stage since the 14th and we have no idea if it will even ship on time.
-
So i told him that i wanna cancel the m15x and get the m17x instead, after going through and customizing the laptop to be almost with same options as the m15x build, the guy tells me they cant cancel the order cause its in a different department and they are closed. So he told me he will call me back on Tuesday and work the process.... UGH GRR -

Your credit card will not be charged until your system is shipped. Plain and simple.
-
-
Thats just for confirmation. They have to verify the information.

Ouch! So that's not normal. You order from Dell US or what? AFAIK Dell US will not charge you until your order is shipped.
-
.....Fine believe what you want
But you may want to check Dell's policys( or i just like lieing to random people)
( hint : they place a hold but don't actually charge you)

Here is a charging procedure that is fact.
1) Order over the phone with rep using DPA, you get charged the same day you make that purchase. They won't place an order without it being paid for in advance. So charge after you ship is not accurate. (If charge after you ship , people can cancel anytime before shipping, but thats not the case. )
2) Order over phone with rep using CC, You will get temporarily charged to your card. cc company or bank will approve the transaction a couple days later. Then you get charged and the system building advance. Not charged when shipped -

I think you are half correct Rengsey. Dell charged my cc few days before my order was shipped. Maybe they charged for verifying purpose then quickly full refund after I placed my order, I dont know (it was my friend cc actually). What I know is for about 3 weeks when my system was in production I still kept my money.

After seeing the videos of Dell building the systems, I don't think charged after ship make any sense. They build systems that is sent from their database from purchases transimited to their servers.. (something like that)
If they charged when it's shipped , I can see a pile of custom laptops , sitting in a corner in their facility due to people canceling at the last minute, because they have not been charged yet. Company that big is not going to build custom pcs and charged when it's completed. It's like saying I'll pay when I get it (C.O.D.)
Here is another example:
I don't know if you have ran into any thread regarding people who had their order in " processing " for at least 1-2 weeks before it was in production stage. That processing time was trying to get funds approved to build that laptop. lol....
Read the In Production status. They won't build till they get your money.

Ok Im confused now lol. You make me realize that I actually dont remember exactly what happened
When I purchase a R2 I will look into that.
-
Regardless of how you pay the official charge doesn't occur until the system is invoiced. Before that point the funds are put on hold. That hold looks just like a charge because you cannot access the funds unless they remove the hold.
Just like my DPA account right now shows my available balanced after my last two purchases but the amount charged/balance due shows 0. -
