Hello, Dell is replacing my current M1730 for an Alienware M17x with the following specs: Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 (2.8GHz, 6MB L2, 1066MHz), 4Gb 1066MHz RAM, Dual Nvidia Geforce GTX 280M SLI 2Gb, WUXGA screen.

And I was wondering, how does this new rig run Crysis, Shift, and GOW? Is there anything I need to do when I get it?

    Thanks,
    Nonya

I concur with Uroboros, pretty nice config they are giving you. More specificlly, the 280s in SLI over the 260s which is what I would think they might try to do.

That can run crysis at all very high settings without AA and Vsync. Resolution can maxed out I think.

Shift can be run at all maximum settings. Not sure about AA though.

GOW is God of War? You can max GOW out, even the AA

Hope this helps :) Oh btw, nice setup you're getting :)

Yeah, I had Complete Care and my 8700M GT's died and they are backordered so they are replacing the whole system :D And by GOW I meant Gears of War.

You can max out GOW with no problems then. Wow lucky person. How much did you pay for complete care?

Okay guys, sry to misdirect your topic.

I placed an order today and I want to change something on my m17x. Do you think they'd let me change the color of the system? ( silver to red the more expensive one :p)

You should be a very happy person. That M17x will play pretty much any game you throw at it maxed out. In fact, I think the only game that you won't be able to max out is Crysis, and any other game that I don't know of that uses the CryEngine 2.

Actually the CryEngine itself wont kill your PC, its the simple level of STUFF going on that kills your PC, until my machine died I was part of a team building a space sim mod on the Crysis engine, and well...it flies in comparison to Crysis because even with the levels of bloom and objects we can spawn, there's still a lot less going on.

So far all our demos have been recorded in realtime by our team lead.
On the second one, skip forward to about 2:50. The first video is the original teaser trailer released about 4-5 months ago, after 2:50 you can see how its been improved and how WIP is coming on :D

If anyone doubts Im involved in that, if you watch the first scene rather than skipping, look at the name of the Co-designer/Writer :D (basically my job on the mod is more to do with the story, and cohesiveness of the universe than actual programming side)

We dont have an exact date but we're hoping for in the next year or two. Basically its a revival in the style of old space sim classics like Tie Fighter and Freespace :)

Our website is www.x32i.org if you want to keep an eye on the media updates, if you check out the news tab it shows some of past updates including some concept art. The story on the site is likely to be revised before release to accomodate some small changes in the timeline, but that background gives you an idea of the backing. We're trying to give some reasonable depth to the universe, me and the team lead were even debating things like realism in the interior of capital ships before my net went down; basically we want it to have a sci-fi, but believable atmosphere. Our team composer (the guy who wrote the music for the original trailer) is also promising some pretty damned nice customer soundtracking, and has some good ideas. :)

Im really missing working on the project atm to be honest; had a load of storylining to do and I've been out the loop on the mod for the last 2 months, which is an eternity in this sort of work; I'll have a lot to catch up and revamp when I get back, as I need to revise the update trailer dialog.

Needless to say there's a fair bit of cool stuff planned.

Will do, once I'm back properly in touch with the team (most of the work has moved from the official developer forums to the skype channels) I'll stick a post in the gaming section :)
