Yeah they told me shipping date is like middle of July.
I was worried about the battery life so I called up alienware to ask about the Smart Bay battery and they said its out of stock for the m17x and that in a month if I call back they will have it and sell it seperate to me for 10% off.

A nice huge massive Snap-On toolset he always wanted. Cost a little over a grand.

If your not familiar, Snap-On is basically like, hmm, how can I compare it, the OCZ brand name of ram, as opposed to no-name ram. lol I dunno, It's what all the mechanics drool over lol.

congratulations on the surprise. the only thing i have a problem with is the 4 gigabytes of ram since you could of saved a bit more money. and turbo cache doesnt seem like it works as advertised. still a good system never the less. now you just have to make sure to get a big enough bag to carry with to the university. if only my parents were as nice as yours. im about to go to university and i had to pay half for my laptop

 

Holy crap that's a nice surprise... yeah I'd be careful about it getting stolen. They stole a lot less valuable stuff when I went to college a couple years ago.

Looks like you've got amazing parents !
They either know something about computers or they just went and ticked the most expensive options, although in that case they should have gone for the 2x 64 SSD .

But anyway, yeah it's a great machine! Good luck with it and don't let a thief become lucky.

You only got the 1 year warranty!? With a system that expensive you better upgrade that to 3 ASAP! =P

 

You can upgrade at any time while the original warranty exists (so you can upgrade to the 3-yr at any time during that one year). So, while you don't have to upgrade now, I would also agree with upgrading to the 3-yr at some point (I also have the 1-yr and will be upgrading)
