The most important item is never included when you buy a used Alienware Laptop, and that my friend is the Warranty, I would never buy an AW laptop without one, NEVER!

Now that it is a Dell warranty, it is transferable :)

And the auction lists a new, sealed-in-box unit.

    I don't think it's a scam. I'd imagine you'd be covered thru paypal.

just looked into the persons feedback and has tried to sell a third item with buyer comment:

"Never receive a package : Seller ignore my emails : Open PayPal Dispute"

    very dodgy.

I'll chime in and say I would be wary of this item....it's more fun to configure and customize your own personal AW anyway....

Yeah, don't do it, it isn't worth the head ache.

Lately ebay is becoming a source of a lot of scammers, I have been scammed 2 times in the last 6 months, and that was on a total of maybe 5 purchases.

And, Paypal was only able to get my money back on one of the items.

As he points out. If you're spending any sort of significant amount of money, go with a seller you'll be able to trust, i.e. very high positive feedback and a LOT of sales.

    This one is a scam.

Maybe you can go ahead and buy it through eBay...
I would love to read one of your stories of how you got ripped off.

Spending an extra amount of $ or a lot more is the satisfaction of knowing that your piece of luxury machine has never been tainted by the sweaty palms of a complete stranger. It is the satisfaction of knowing that your piece of high class hardware has been trusted and given to you from the hands of it's craftsmen. That my friend, is what makes me sleep at night.

I remember when some people sold an xbox360 on eBay when it first came out....

the item listed as an xbox360, but the fine print says "a picture of an xbox360".

so the buyer ended up paying $800 for a 2" by 3" glossy photo of the xbox360.. ahahahaha!

That was a pathetic comment, really. I buy ALL my audio gear (except audio monitors) second hand. I dont care whos sweaty palms have been on my gear, as long as it is fully functional, permits me to create great stuff, and lets me fullfill my passion for music all at HALF PRICE.

As for the hands of the craftsman, I highly doubt you can call those assembly people at dell craftsmen, and if anyone has sweaty hands, im pretty sure its them.

What I would pay more for IS a warranty that if it breaks I get it replaced, but I am not paying twice the price for an alienware because of those craftsmen, but because of the aftersales services

Anyway, dont diss second hand, second hand is great, saved me tons of money that can be spend on...on my future alienware :p

and he says quad core 2.4 ghz.
what quad core processor is clocked at 2.4ghz that aw sales?
it would have to be a q9200 which aw doesnt sell and i doubt this guy put in it, bc its a semi-rare processor.
and he doesnt even say what cpu it actually is.
it sounds sketchy, this guy probably isnt legit.
dont do it, there are other more reliable sellers to buy from.

Please do not blame every seller on ebay on your comments. I sold 3 of these systems on ebay already and selling one more now. Also remember that not everybody is capable of buying from dell USA website (ie everybody lives outside of USA).

There isn't any other C2 Extreme near 2.4, though.

Either way, I'd buy from Dell long before I give this guy my money!

The M17x doesn't come with anything but the QX9300 when talkin extremes.

I know the Q9200 exists but that means he is selling opened systems (which aren't new once you take apart the laptop).
