I just noticed that this thing was right in my budget. I guess I would have skipped it because of the large screen. I like my laptops... mobile 12 inch min and 12 inch max :p. :D :D

if the title of the thread will suggest you buy a laptop for your 8 year old daughter i suggest it not be an alienware.

    i would recommend

1)a toughbook so if she drops it or spills something on it, nothing will happen
2)a lenovo since i heard they have good build quality
3)a dell since they have accidental damage protection in their warranty.
4)a desktop. she will never drop it and she will at worse spill stuff on her keyboard and mouse.

AW does not have accidental damage protection and the build quality is so - so. once your daughter drops it or spills something on the m15x i think its basically time to say good bye to the money you spend on it.

hhehe yeah this was the best vid i have seen :)

I kept the laptop because it's too heavy for her to carry to school - we just bought her a new Apple Macbook Air hopefully the shop owner wont go installing his own software and use it then display it at his shop counter so his other customers could mess around with it while they wait for customer service.

This time I bought it from JB hi-fi in Osborne Park because it was there to be seen touch feel and smell. My daughter loved it and she is so happy knowing that it wont get used by the owner of the shop before we pick it up.

They are ordering 2 more gig of RAM for us so we have to wait till Friday to pick it up :)

Btw all our Laptops are insured for accidental damage and theft.

The reason why she went with Apple is because of the Multimedia Capabilty that Microsoft could not master. The iPhoto is incredible you could see all the photos in thumb nail without lag (espcially with 5000 photos in thumb nail without lag WOW). I wish Vista could see 500 photos in thumb nail without causing lag especially when you are trying to scroll through over 5000 photos.

I highly recommend MacOS very good operating system - looks good and feels good.
