Anyway thanks for the link man. -
No problem. I hope that solves your touch button problem. Otherwise, you'd might have to talk to Agent Kevin about the issues you've been having. Rebeca is still doing a follow-up on your issue, so I'll most likely get another response from her later today.
Posted the instructions just in-case. Besides, there are AW representatives roaming around these forums, so I felt obligated to post them. -
Flashed the bios, you'll never guess what happened, the Command Center touchpad control is now stuck highlighted & Stealth Mode still doesn't work. I'm gonna unistall Command Center again to see if it fixes the Command Center touchpad control.
-
Well, guess that didn't work. I've already told Rebeca you've had the X34 BIOS anyway, so she'll probably look further into the matter. In the meantime, throw an email to Kevin and explain your issue. Perhaps he'll be able to help you out. He has access to UK accounts, so he should be able to assist you. I'll continually update you on what Rebeca finds out.
Also, have you tried reseating the touch sensitive panel cable yet? I don't know if it'll work, but that's another thing that was suggested in the email. Instructions are found here.

Don't forget to ground yourself. It's very important!
Edit: Heading off to bed for the night. I'll continue the updates later in the morning (should be evening for you by then.) Good luck. -
I haven't tried reseating the touch sensitive panel yet, seems a little complicated & honestly I don't trust myself.
This is kinda weird, I uninstalled Command Center, reinstalled it then rebooted, now when I restart the Command Center touchpad is off but when I press on it it becomes highlighted but doesn't actually bring up the Command Center, I then run the Command Center then exit which normally turns off the touchpad light but it doesn't it stays on till I turn off the pc.
I'm kinda getting fed up now, man I wish AW would just take it back & fix it themselves instead of trying to get me to try things I've already done (2 emails now to tech trying me to do things). -
Eh. I wouldn't want to go through the hassle of sending one back and forth. In between installing the Command Center, you should probably repair the registry to remove any invalid registry files that might conflict with the clean install of the Command Center.
Sorry that this is a little frustrating for you but eh, it won't really solve anything if we don't give what we got a shot right? I personally have never seen anyone with this specific problem before, so it's hard to tell what would remedy it. On a lighter note though, if we do find out how to fix it, we could pass the solution to another person in need of help. Just a thought. -
nah didn't work, Command Center touchpad is screwed up still.
-
I got a little distracted before heading to bed, so I thought I'd check up on this thread before I really went. I mean it this time.
To be honest, I'm all out of ideas. All I can do at this point is to feed you with email updates from Roswell. Sorry I can't help you any further than this, but I'll continue to look around for solutions. Perhaps there might be something we've missed.
As for your experience with tech support, I would rather have you email Roswell instead. Roswell is a lot more promising than the normal tech support since they work closer with the service technicians and can get direct feedback from them. -

AW replied back they want me to reseat the touch sensitive panel cable, looks like I'll be doing that tomorrow then, what's the best way to ground yourself?
-
Touch a piece of metal before opening up your system to discharge any static build up you may have collected and also buying a Anti-Static wristband or such is a good investment. They are normally very cheap.

Got another email from Roswell. Sent her back another email saying that re-flashing it did not help but only made the problem worse.
Hello [omitted name],
I do think that re-flashing the BIOS may help.
I have another question, when you reinstalled the OSD, did you uninstall it first?
Another thing that may affect the stealth function is the power scheme your friend is using. Please make sure that the power plan he is using is the ‘Balanced’ power plan.
At this point there is also the possibility of having something there that is physically obstructing the key. You can also try to reseat the touch sensitive keys panel.
The touch sensitive key panel cable of the Area-51 m15x mobile system is located under the keyboard.
Remove the keyboard of the Area-51 m15x mobile system.
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Unplug the AC adapter from the wall outlet.
3. Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Flip the computer upside down. Alienware recommends placing a soft fabric or towel on the table to prevent damage to the computer's finish.
5. Remove the battery.
6. Remove the 2 screws highlighted in red in Image 1:
Image 1
1. Remove the Service Cover.
Image 2
2. Remove The CPU Fan
3. Locate and remove the screw highlighted on Image 3. This screw is under the CPU fan.
Image 3
4. Locate and remove the screw highlighted on Image 4. This screw is close to the video card's heatsink fan, but it is not required to remove the fan in order to remove the screw.

5. Turn over the system and open the LCD so that you are able to see the keyboard.
6. Remove the keyboard, by grabbing it from the top with your fingers. See Image 5:
Image 5
7. Flip the keyboard over so that it rests on the touchpad and hand rest area. See Image 6:
Image 6
8. After removing the keyboard, you will find the touch sensitive keys panel cable on the upper-center area of the metal plate.
Image 7
9. Remove the touch sensitive keys panel cable: lift up the black latch so that it stays at a 90? angle, and pull the ribbon cable out.

10. To re-connect the cable, just reverse this procedure.

yeah I did reinstall the OSD utility first, I did it again, OSD first, then Command Center, the Command Center touchpad still works (functioning properly) while Stealth Mode still doesn't work.
Second yes I've changed the power plans & recorded the CPU speed in each of the different modes with CPU-Z since in my previous AW email with Tech Support they told me to do this.
And I've just spent the last 20min reseating the Touchpad sensitive panel cable but turned on the Laptop & still no change, Command Center works still but Stealth Mode is still not working.
So now I think I have done everything I can do, sending them an email which hopefully they will ask for it to be sent back this time cause I can do no more.
So so far:
Reinstalled 8800GTX driver
Reinstalled Intel driver
Reinstalled Chipset driver (AW requested it)
Reinstalled Command Center
Reinstalled OSD utility first then Command Center (with fixing registry, etc inbetween uninstalling & installing)
Changed Power Plans
Re-flashed the Bios
Reseat the touchpad sensitive panel cable -
So you managed to fix the Command Center again huh, that's a step forward from a step backwards. You know, I wouldn't be surprised if the real fix was something really simple and was overlooked.
-
Well its off to AW now, better not come back in worse shape, I still love AW...well maybe a bit less than originally.
-
Be sure to make them pay the hours they made you work for them!
Good luck with the repairs. I'm sure they will turn it around well.
Got my m15x back today, yeah there are 2 problems with it now
