First off, I am sorry that I had to post this topic in this forum, but desktopreview.com is dead and there is no way i can get an answer from them. If you know any good Alienware desktop forum, please let me know.

Anyway, I am about to purchase the new Area-51 ALX. I am building it to the max. And I am confused with two things. The RAM and the GPU.

RAM: should I get the 6GB at 1600mhz or the 12GB at 1333mhz?
GPU: 5870HD or the GTX 295?

    * I am looking for the best in terms of speed, visual, performance, etc. The whole thing. Money is no issue. I just want the best.

People say the the GTX 295 is better but has GDDR4 and only DX10 whereas the 5870 HD is GDDR5 and has DX11.. THIS IS KILLING ME!!

Suppose I picked the ATI graphics, well I be able to upgrade it to the nvidia 300-series once it's out?

Your help is very appreciated

The RAM honestly depends on how much you're going to use. Personally I would go with the 6GB at 1600MHz because it's faster and I'd never use all of 6GB but some people may take the 12GB, because the speed makes little difference in most cases.

A single 5870 actually performs as well as a GTX 295, particularly in games that don't scale well. Even with a single 5870, all games will bow before its power. Get two and you're set for years.

You should be able to upgrade to the nvidia 300 series when it comes out, yes, but they'll have to pull off something incredible to make them more powerful than the 5870.

6gb DDR3-1600 and dual 5870's is the way to go

Cheaper (even though you dont care) and better performance

In the future, make a thread over at DTR, so NBR does not get cluttered up. If your thread doesn't get a response in a reasonable time, then you may repost it over here.
Believe it or not, threads are getting answered over at DTR, and traffic is going up(see alexa data). Heck, DTR even has a AW rep who appears to be active and helpful. If the admins wanted it to be as popular at NBR, they would have named it notebookreview2.com. Patience is a virtue.
