    Hi,
i may need some help if some of you might understand this issue of my gtx980m.

For the short story, i was upgrading from r5 to a p377sm. i use an p175sm heatsink, it look close but wasnt good as i was too sleepy and stupid to not see direclty the core of gpu not touching the copper of the heatsink but i still didnt play. i notice it after many brutal shutdown of the clevo. so i correct it and it was fitting on this time. After lets say 20mn of installing driver, the clevo shutdown. i notice before shutdown windows 10 instal his 'own' nvidia driver as i wanted to do it for the last.. since this shut down, Heree the situation:

If my gtx980m is in the clevo p377sma ( windows 10 ), while i boot the laptop, it beep until shutdown itself. Beep are continue without rithms. i can be in windows, i can just be on the bios or trying to instal windows in a new HDD, it will always beep and shutdown. i also try to remove the cmos battery for 10minutes but same issue.

In my alienware 17 r5, its a 60Hz so both intel hd4600 and gtx (optimus), laptop boot, no problem in windows 8.1. i can see the gpu detected in device manager ( without nvidia driver instaled on it) GPUz or hwinfo64 detect the nvidia. But GPUz show a memory clock at 0MHz and also boost clock showed at 0MHz. and i notice too only 2223mb detected instead of a near 8Gb.
if i install a driver( i know how to mod myself) at restart, it give a Blue screen and a text saying: page fault in non pagearea .
if i remove the gpu (still driver instaled, its working. And gpu installed without driver its working too)
if i put a gtx980m working 'new' in the clevo all is fine^^

Thanks for any answer or where to ask to repair it! :)

It sounds like maybe it got burned up. If your Clevo works correctly with a different 980M and you are seeing those problems with the GPU installed in the Alienware that causes problems on the Clevo, I think that confirms there is an issue with that video card. Sorry that happened, bro. That is really sad. I do not know where or if you can get it repaired. Maybe check with @Khenglish at Tech Inferno and see if he has any ideas. He is a real wizard at MXM GPU hardware modding and if anyone knows it would likely be this gentleman.

If I were the seller you would not be getting any help from me. It's not his fault, plus you're 7 months into ownership. Did it have a 1 year warranty? This kind of user-induced damage would not typically be covered under a warranty. It might be covered as "accidental damage" if you have such a warranty. If the damage is not too bad, Khenglish might be able to fix it.

Does he do any fixing, like professional reflow and resoldering and replacement of GPU's and such ?

Darcoder's issue is tragedy. But if we find help for him, I am almost certain the information would be valuable to everyone.

I'm not sure what his capacities are, but anyone that can take a GPU core from a desktop GPU and move it to the PCB of an MXM GPU and have it work is pretty talented. I wish I knew how to do that.

thats not possible. They'r e different sizes physically even when the technology or lithography is the same. Who says they did that ?

He actually demonstrated it in some posts over at T|I and it was with older ATI/AMD GPUs. Not something anyone would want to have in today's world, but something he was tinkering with to see what he could get away with.

seriously ? afaik, what i stated was accurate. BUT** I admit it was clearly of nVidia. I now wonder if AMD is different. (Of if it is even possible with nvidia..)

I have no idea, but nonetheless, that's pretty cool and impressive that he pulled it off on some oldy-moldy ATI MXM cards. That's why I think if anyone might be able to fix that messed up GPU @Khenglish might be up to the task.
