I watched this video guide on youtube:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsj50dc7aSU

is this literally all you do?
After I install the SSD, will it automatically ask me which drive I want to install the OS onto, when I boot the new laptop for the first time? Then I will be all set? Sorry, I want to make sure I don't ruin this laptop! lol

PS: I do not have a current SSD in the laptop. Only a 1TB HDD.

You will need a windows disk, but yes you physically install it, boot from the cd (or usb drive) and install windows to the new drive if you want the os there.

Usually with the tools to create a recovery dvd (or two).

I've used Samsung Data Migration software, downloadable from Samsung web site, to clone entire disk to new SSD. Then i've fisically replaced it. All done.

That does need a samsung drive for their software to work but yes using an included program to clone it works but of course the recovery partitions do take a lot of space.
