Here it is I think its good enough

It looks fine. But I think that notebook has got Software RAID. Anyway, its still a bit quicker than a single drive.

nice speed, but kinda slow access time for some reason.
also, back up your important file more often to external or on internet often is recommended. -

Mike2011,
i just got the Seagate 320 7200 rpm drives.
im putting them in RAID 0.
uve had them for awhile..
have u noticed any difference on applications, loading, or transfer times? -
The M17 uses a software based intel raid controller. Some people think they are good, but they suck when you compare them to a good LSI, Areca, 3ware or via raid card.
The difference between 1 drive, and two drives in raid 0 is very minimal. Sure hdtune may show near 2x the performance, but hdtune is a synthetic benchmark. If you want to see the actual performance difference, run pcmark05 on one harddrive, and than on the raid 0 array. You will see about 5-10% increase in speed from the second drive.
If the laptop had hardware raid, which it doesnt, it would have near 2x the performance.

hmm interesting.
is it possible to buy the card and put in the M17?
if so, how much would it cost? -
a raid card, yeah right. Your not going to get that in a laptop. Raid cards are very expensive, and are usually only installed on $600 plus motherboards. they also draw a lot of power, and they need to be actively cooled, which is another reason why laptop manufacturers use software raid.
The Octitron has a dedicated raid card, but no other laptop will

*sigh* It only took 6 days for my other Western Digital Black Scorpio 320Gb 7200rpm to make a faint popping sound, then the computer died. I'm getting a new one in monday, not sure if I will put them in RAID anymore though.

OCTITRON "homemade laptop"???
OK I'll bite...
