for starters, open your rig up and make sure the fan cables are still plugged in. then, remove the fan from your system (aren't the heatsinks and the fans separate?) and carefully try to get the fan to run with an external battery just make sure you know which connectors are for the power, and which for regulating the fan speed.
-
yes they are seperate in our system i have looked around alot in there lol
really thats stupid and you can proably find a new fan on ebay and use it.....they would never even look
i have seen direct blast of canned air unbalance a fan and make it grind and srew it up pretty bad but never kill it lol -
the cables are fine, m17 has the fan attached to the heat sink. and testing it with external power is not possible as it has three wires going in.
-
yes you can one is power one is ground ....if it runs off power its got a +,- lol
should be red and black wires and a white one -
tried with 6v dc but no use.........
-
shouldn't one be red, one black, and one yellow? of of those is for the fan speed, the others for power.
-
i would gander:
red = +
blk = -
ylw = speed
just a guess from previous electronics uses. but there is no set standards for these type of items. -
put more volts !!!!!!!! lol jp
-
9v......12v.......no good, doesn't work
-
ok, that should settle it then. i wonder why AW won't send you the fan - i had no problems getting them to send me one when mine broke.
-
lol........they want me to send my notebook as one can not change the heat sink in m17 by themselves(i wanted to pay for the heat sink but still.....damn aw).
-
contact AW-James or -Armando.
-
thanks whizzo, sent a pm hope they see it........
-
you can also try contacting roswell and let them in on the issue.
-
thumbs up, getting a new heat sink assembly($22.50) roswell crew is great.....they actually called me after i emailed them about my problem and how the aw customer care handled my issue..........lol
-
and yet, folks say that AW's support sucks. funny...
-
AW support does suck roswell is good lol
Roswell is so good they have to clean up behind AW support -
you are right mr moo
my first call to aw was a nightmare......
