As I've already purchased a new Alienware from Dell this past week for a very decent price, I'm just wondering if resellers like HIDEvolution offer better prices for the same configuration if you call and make a phone order from one of their reps.

I see that they offer some other component upgrades that Dell doesn't offer, but as I can do RAM/HDD upgrades myself, that really isn't a tempting enough reason for me to buy from them. That is, unless HIDEvolution or other resellers offer competitive pricing if you call their reps. Their online prices seem to be the same as Dell's online configurator.

I'm asking if the pricing would be any cheaper if I called one of the HIDevolution reps, as I was able to get a ~$650 discount when I called a Dell rep to make my purchase.

Call them and find out... nobody here can really give you a 100% yes or no answer. Like any sale, its up to the purchaser to try and haggle.

    Best of luck.

If you live outside the US it will be cheaper because you don't pay US taxes, but then again you have shipping and your own country's taxes to take into account. If not, Dell definitely cheaper as you can haggle with them on the phone, can't do that with HIDevolution.

The 3D model is 1849 at HID and 2074 at Dell, the standerd model is 1534 at HID and 1499 at Dell. Currency in dollars.

For outside US living people its way cheaper then Dell in their own country. For example I saved myself about 800 euro's for the 3D model.

BUT shipping cost is higher, and dont forget about tax. Still is cheaper though.

No what you're saying is not completely true, let me explain.
Hidevolution charge 50$ more than Dell for any similar configuration for the 3d model, and 35$ more for the non 3d model.
The 3d model used to be 1799$ for Dell, 1849$ for HIDevolution.
But then Dell removed the offer of 275$ off for the 3d model and the price came back to 2074, HIDevolution didn't update their price yet, but it will be shown as 2124$ once they update it.
And for the non 3d model as I said they charge 35$ more than Dell for the same configuration.
But where you make savings as a non US resident is that you don't pay US taxes when buying from HIDevolution, you only pay shipping fees and your country's taxes, whereas when you buy from Dell and then have it shipped to your country, you pay US taxes, your country's taxes and shipping fees.
So for a non US resident definitely HIDevolution much cheaper, but for a person in the USA it's much better to buy directly from Dell since taxes are the same, plus you can haggle for the price with them over the phone, and there are coupons you can use as well.

    I know.

The price at HID was 1799, bought mine for that price. Couple of days later it was 1849. While Dell's was 1799, now Dell is 2074 and HID still is at 1849.

Dont know if HID will adjust the price. Doesnt really matter to me, still save's me alot of money.

I'm seriously thinking in buying a m18x and a undecised in buying also the m11x r3 or the m14x, but I'm from Portugal and here we only a retail shop called Fnac that sells configured alienwares but the price is the same of the uk so it's madness buying one there.

From what I'm seing HIDEvolution is awsome in prices only one doubt can I costumize an alienware? Also is there any other shops from the same style?

Go for the M14x R1. But is not on HID site. Maybe next week when Ted comes back.

    I ordered myself a 2nd M17x R3 3D yesterday. :D

Can HIDevolution ship to other EU countries apart from the UK? I would think that with the free circulation of goods and lack of customs within the EU there would be no problem.

In Portugal only FNAC sells Alienware, but there's no customization and their service isn't that good. I'd rather buy one through HIDevolution (saving money in the process) and transfer the warranty.

They don't ship only to the UK, they ship all around the world.
I work in Qatar and they ship here too.
If you wanna see a list of all the countries they ship to, just go and do a random customisation of the R3 on their website, click on add to cart, on the next page scroll down and look at the section called estimate shipping and tax, see if your country is listed (and you will know how much shipping will cost as well ;))

It means HIDevolution coupons, so Dell coupons don't apply.
But if you wanna order from them and have a Dell/Alienware coupon tell them you have one maybe they can apply it.

That I'm not sure about, I suggested getting Dell coupons because those are easy to get, but HIDevolution coupons no idea...

    Hey, I'm just wondering,
If I bought an AW lappy from HIDEvolution to come to New Zealand,

Do I have to fill out the Dell - International Ownership Transfer Form to transfer my warranty here, and if so, who do I put as the original owner? Myself?

It'd most likely be the M18x that I buy, as I can imagine it being NZ$5,000+ in the NZ store, as the M17x R3 is already NZ$4,099 base (US$3,284 and it only has the 6870M standard and the 6970M is a massive NZ$527 upgrade  )
and the M18x here once you add CF and such would have an astronomical price.

    Thanks :)

    Couple of questions regarding HIDEvolution!

Are all their keyboards AZERTY layout?
If I have to call in the warranty, can it be handled by Dell UK?
*Depending on the answer to questions one and two: If something happened to the keyboard, would they (Dell UK) replace an AZERTY with a QWERTY?

I'm struggling to find a good reason not to get an R3 aside from the ridiculous price at Dell UK. I already paid top whack for my M15x and I after seeing the price comparison with the States I never really got over how much better off you guys are.

I recently emailed Ted from HIDEvolution asking similar to you re the warranty and this is what he said:

"Dell warranties are generally valid in every region where they sell a similar product. In other words, if Dell in your region sells and services that model system there, then you are covered. If not, then you would have to send it back to us for any potential warranty repairs. Either way, you are covered either by Dell or through us for the life of the service plan you choose."

Regarding your other questions, I wouldn't know sorry, but I assume that they would replace the keyboard with the layout it came with (QWERTY I'm assuming) providing they had them in stock?

Yes, any region other than the USA has insane prices - I know that because of import and tax charges etc. Dell cannot charge the same abroad as they do in the USA, but they could at least be reasonable, yes? I don't know about other stores, but the NZ store is pretty absurd.

Edit: I'm assuming that once you buy it, you'd have the complete the International Ownership Transfer Form that I linked in an earlier post, but I'm unsure.

Pffff, just read the "Saving £££ in UK" thread and think I'll skip HIDevo. The threat of customs on my tail is more than I can handle. Usually in enough trouble as it is without those s trying to skin me. Guess it's either the good old fashioned "empty the bank" approach or summon some self discipline and resist.

Buy it in Dollars from HIDEvolution you'll still save some money, because AW it's only cheap in US that's what I believe I see the UK prices and they're absurd.

Not planning on replacing my M15x just yet (I'm still debating whether to do it at all) but when I do I think I'd rather just go with Dell UK. I've found myself in a few legal disputes over the last couple of years and I think a nice big strike for tax evasion would probably put me in a pretty sticky spot. Besides, I think I'd pay an extra £500 just to avoid the AZERTY keyboard...

I think the OP's question has been answered... Folks, HIDEvo is a reseller. It is not Alienware and discussion belongs here -

    Other Manufacturers

    Thanks.
