Hey guys - has this deal already been announced on these boards for UK customers?

    http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&oc=N00W1104&dgc=AF&cid=5212&lid=122756&acd=4737753a86f44459cd8fd9cb42bf9ef2

This is a GREAT deal - i'm contacting Alienware tomorrow to see if I can change my order - if not i'll happily cancel and reorder dispite the wait.

Start price is at £729 with 4gb memory and upgraded SU7300 CPU WITH ALIENWARE TACTX MOUSE (Worth £60 alone!)

The deal that I am looking at is as follows:

£1,058.99 or even £995.45 with EEP

    Big saving of - FREE DELIVERY (£20) - £80 OFF (Deal) - 6% EEP - £59 for Tactx mouse!

Base Alienware M11x - Cosmic Black PLUS Alienware Tactx Mouse (Mouse is part of the package deal)

Processor Intel® Core™ 2 Duo SU7300(1.3GHz,800MHz,3MB) (Upgrade is part of the package deal)

Microsoft Operating System Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium

Memory 8192MB 1067MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [2x4096] (Upgrade to 4GB is part of the package deal, I went for 8)

Hard Drive 500GB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive

This deal is a lot less without the extra ram and without the larger hard drive, I think it's a great deal - with the EEP I'm saving a total of £200

P.s. I don't think you can get this deal online WITH the EEP, however I am assured it can be used in conjunction with EEP via the phone.

UPDATE - HOW TO ADD EPP TO THE ONLINE ORDER (BIG Thanks to rpg-XPS):

Another way to get the offer direct from Dell WITH the EEP discount:

Go to the Dell Epp site: http://www.dell-sci.co.uk/

    Click on 'Laptops'

Go to the bottom of the screen where it says Evalue code click on the link and Type:

In the 1st box - 'a' and in the second box - 'N00W1104'

Place your order - WHEN YOU GET TO THE FINAL BASKET SCREEN you will have the full discount WITH the extra 6% off :)

    Simples.

    Have you ordered it yet?

I'm going to order this today with that price. I want EPP though, I'm going to try mess around and see if I can get it to show. Otherwise I'm phoning them.

    +1 rep.

Can't see 4GB as the default option. It's definitely only offering 2GB for the £729 price (£80 to upgrade to 4GB). Has it changed? I tried removing the mouse and it knocked back the price to £670 but unfortunately it said it was incompatible and made me choose it.

Got the EPP to work on the price too. Still not as good as the US price but it's a decent discount all the same.

You can read more about it here. I'm a student so I do qualify for it, but I do know people that have used it that aren't, with no issues at all...

In the address bar, after the part that says config.aspx? is the following: "c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&". Just replace dhs with epp, and hit enter. Job done! You'll have to re-configure the system and add it to your basket to see the discount.

It's ridiculous! £80 is approx $120! Although I do believe in standard configurations the upgrade to the SU7300 is cheaper here in the UK than the US. Still doesn't make up for it though!

It's certainly worth a try Neil. The UK model is already overpriced compared to the US model (I understand that's due to the weak pound but still), so £100 off and a free upgrade to the SU7300 (unfortunately you have to buy the TactX mouse instead) does make a difference.
I can't see any problem with that at all, and you're right, it doesn't mention anything about part or full time attendance. As long as you can actually provide a genuine college name at checkout (I think you have to at some stage of the order), I doubt they'd even bat an eyelid. They're not going to try and cancel a £700 sale for the sake of a 6% discount.

Unfortunately not. Tried all the tricks - Poor student, interested in the Acer Ferrari One as it's cheaper, already stretching to get the M11x but the mouse puts it over the top... Nothing! :D Once he saw my basket with all the discounts already applied, he wasn't interested. He claimed he couldn't downgrade and that the particular order I had found was an error and was soon to be corrected. But I don't believe any of that. As the price was so low to begin with, it probably wasn't worth it for him (commission wise) to do anything for me.

To be honest I didn't really mind at all as it's not as if I was looking for further discounts. I'm still actually getting the mouse, so I can sell it on eBay and get £30 or £40 for it, which will bring my overall cost below £700. So I can't complain at all!

The only specs that differ from the standard configuration base model, is that I have the SU7300 and a 500GB drive. I stuck with the 2GB RAM as I have 4GB of Kingston RAM on the way.

Would you be able to sell the mouse then?
Im just thinking if the laptop ever developed a problem and you had to send it back or something would you be able to get a refund seeing as you bought it with a mouse as part of the deal.

Good point, I guess I could try it out, I might even like it. £720 for a M11x with a £60 mouse, SU7300 and 500GB is a pretty nice deal as it is, so I don't really mind keeping the mouse.

Is it cheaper for you to buy the 4gb ram separately? I had a look on ebuyer and its still about £80 for two 4gb sticks so thought might aswell upgrade whilst configuring.
Btw how long will you have to wait before you get your M11x?

Yes, definitely. The upgrade price from 2GB to 4GB is extortionate. As you mentioned you could get 8GB for £80 at retail! No EDD yet, will probably change later on or tomorrow. I'll update when I know.
Yeah, it says expires 4th March, but sometimes they extend them.

It seems to be available in Ireland too, click here.

Bah Humbug!, just had a fight on the phone with dell. They cant do anything, so ive had to reorder, then get a refund on the one already on its way from china when it arrives.

Ordered the deal with 4GB ram, and used EPP discount (which i didnt realised they did and im actually legable for) which came to a total of £766.85, BARRGIN compared to 788.99 for only 2GB of ram and no mouse! Looks like im in the waiting game again though... awell :) + REPPING.

No problem, in fact I prefer the Ireland deal as for the base price, they include the SU7300 and 4GB of RAM (along with the TactX mouse). The UK deal used to have 4GB RAM but now it's only 2GB.

Yeah, spotted that, I'd be getting 4GB so works out nicely. Seems to only show up as EPP (non-EPP doesn't have the offer when I pick it on the dropdown) but my other half is in a Dell partner company anyway so can avail of the EPP discount that way.

That's sweet mate. If you compare the two prices overall, the deal (+EPP) saved you £22.14, you got £80 worth of RAM upgrade and a £59 mouse! That's equivalent to £161.14 saved!

Ah right, yeah that makes more sense - 8GB DDR3 for £80 was a very wishful price... :)

Yeah pretty much. You'll be able to get better quality RAM (with possibly lower latencies too). Then when your M11x goes out of warranty you can sell the 2x1GB sticks it shipped with and make a few quid, or use them in something else.

I know, totally mad. Even though ive got to play the waiting game again, its well worth for the saving and better spec. Anyone in a similar situation i would recommend doing what i did.

unfortuantly yes :( the refund will probably take a couple of weeks to come too (gotta recieve, get them to collect, then process the refund ). So it looks like ill be living off 10p super noodles for awhile ;)

Didnt go down the supervisor route, since i can sort of see where they are comming from, not alot they can do once its shipped. Though im going to try and get them to knock off the return charge when i ring up CS again to process the refund.

Should i go for 4gig of ram now or go for 2gig and save £80 as its alot of money for potentially not alot better performance
    Ive found this
    http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Specific.aspx?ArticleId=24373

Min fps was higher but average and maximum fps remained the same and also notice that the games were played on high settings and high resolution (not sure if that would make alot of difference mind)

Hello, I'm new to these forums. I'm from Ireland and I'm looking to buy the m11x.

I don't really understand how the EPP discounts work or more specifically what is it?
How do people get access to the m11x deal that rpg-XPS posted the link to? When I select the m11x from the drop down menu it will only give me the normal price at €829 and no free processor upgrade, no RAM upgrade and no TactX mouse.

Also its there a difference on the second link that rpg-XPS posted to the m11x deal? It has exactly the same deal as the first link but without the EPP part in the address.

I'm in college right now, its there any deals for students?

    Sorry for this newbish post.

2GB of RAM is sufficient for most current games, so it probably won't make much difference for gaming. Overall, they'd definitely be more dependant on the GPU. However, the minimum system requirements for 64-Bit Win7 is 2GB RAM, so you may see a slight increase in performance with 4GB actually using the OS. Also, I expect to see more games and programs utilising 4GB of RAM over the next year, so if you want to future-proof the machine (to an extent) I'd go with 4GB.

If you like, you could go with 2GB of RAM first and see how you get on. In a couple of months, it's only going to cost you £80 (or less) to get 4GB of equal or better quality RAM if you find you need it.
Best of luck! :D Update the thread with your endeavours!

Don't worry it's not a newbish post (and sorry for confusing you!). EPP is a discount scheme for employees of Dell's valued corporate customers. However, in the UK, they link EPP in with The Dell Student Computing Initiative, which enables students and staff of Universities in the UK to avail of the EPP discount. Unfortunately, I don't think students qualify for the discount in Ireland. :(

The deal comes from an E-Value code which probably appeared in an advertisement or brochure somewhere first. Dell use these codes so people can input the E-Value code into the website to find the exact deal they saw in the leaflet. A few sites now have details of the deal, like this one.

How I changed it to work in Ireland was simply change the link in the address bar. Wherever you see "uk", replace it with "ie". If you want EPP, change "dhs" to "epp". I hope this explains it a bit better. If not, let me know!

    Hey guys - back again.

    HERE'S THE WHOLE STORY...

Last night Dell's marketing team released the original super deal WITH the 4gb of ram INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. Early this morning the offer went down and was not replaced until later today WITHOUT THE 4GB of ram included...
SPEAKING TO A DELL SALES REP - THE DEAL IS A MISTAKE MADE BY MARKETING AND WILL APPARENTLY BE TAKEN DOWN WITHIN THE NEXT FEW HRS...

Just want people to know that I wasn't able to take advantage of the uber - FREE 4gb of ram last nights deal presented, dispite me creating this thread, I was told to call dell customer services Monday, as they are closed on Sundays, so that I could cancel my original order and RE order the super deal. I've got a EPP rep dealing with the order and she is letting me know what's happening tomorrow morning - i'll keep you posted if I can get my UBER £995 deal.

P.s. A few people saying thanks for the heads up would be greatly appreciated ;) lol

    Good luck guys.

I'm hoping to order with the EPP and use financing, but I've heard a few horror stories surrounding dell finance and was wondering if you guys have any experience with it?

Found this bit of info. The website has done actual comparisons 2gb vs 4gb using games. There was a very small increase in performance for the games except crysis. 4gb gave a 7% higher av framerate compared to 2gb for crysis

Well, I just couldn't resist anymore and put in my order :)

Now I play the waiting game. Then the "selling my M1330" game, hah!

Aww now I can't wait. New gadget fever.

That clears up a bit for me, thanks :)
Is it possible to use the link you provided to purchase a m11x in Ireland, without any issues? :)

Thanks again for the quick reply :D

Thanks again Jonny, I repped you earlier in the thread for posting the offer. I'm disappointed I missed the 4GB deal too, but even with 2GB base option it's still great value. Hopefully your EPP rep can sort you out.
Wow, I knew the difference was small, but it really is minimal! Thanks for the info.
I know, I'm looking forward to it too. :) My EDD is over 5 weeks away though. :(
Of course, no issues at all. If you look at the discounts they've adjusted and rounded off the discount amounts equivalent to euro (i.e. €90 off + €30 off shipping) so it's intended to be available in Ireland also. I'm not necessarily recommending this now, but I do know of people in Ireland who have claimed the EPP discount with no relation to Dell's corporate partners at all, and nothing was even questioned. Supposedly, they rarely check it.
