Hello. Im new here. I got my new m17x on saturday with one gtx 260.
It was running fine untill, sometimes, when i try to change from the 9400 to the gtx260, the screen flickers and stays black and i cant do anything. Only way to get it back is to press the FN+f7 (i/d gfx). this is really frustrating as i cant even use the gtx 260.
I went into the bios and disabled the integrated graphics and after the reboot the screen flickers solid colors and freaks out...
Anyone know how to fix this?
Tell me i didn't waste 2 grand.
I love this notebook though, when the gtx 260 is working!![]()

I just got off the phone with tech support (almost 2hrs on the phone) and he said they are having some issues with Hybrid SLI and people calling .
One of his suggestions was to disable both in the bios when you want to use the 260 by itself. When you disable both then only the 260 should show in the device manager. -
I disabled both in the bios and rebooted. Windows was displaying a wrong resolution. I went to the device manager and it showed the 260 there but it was disabled. So i enabled it though the device manager. So it appears to be working. So changing graphic cards is broken on this computer?

what Quad said is the best way to go you get better performance that way as well and it will not mess up
-
no its not you need to fix the driver that is why it was disabled -
IS there something wrong with the driver that comes with the pc?
I tried updating it and it said the nvidia setup couldnt find compatable hardware or something.
Is updating the driver through nvidia's site useless?
Does it use a special dell/alienware driver? -
no you should of kept the one it shipped with ..... where did you get the newer driver?
-
You can install DOX drivers 182.46
Here are the Mandrake instructions to get them to install.
1. Disable integrated graphics and Hybrid SLI in the bios.
2. Delete the 280s through Device manager.
3. Run driver sweeper to clean any residuals.
4. Reboot
5. Wait until default vga driver auto installs after the reboot.
6. Run the setup for the Dox drivers.
You can find these drivers on Laptopvidep2go.com just look in the forums section and you will see a DOX section . Only use these because the others have issues with out system.
This should almost have its own thread for how to install them lol.
HUGE problem with the HYBRID SLI
