I have a seagate with 120gb capacity that spins at 7200rpm and the free fall sensor, my question is how does AW offer 400gb and 500gb capacity when the largest i can find online is 320gb, do they use 2 hard drives or what. Which brings me to my next question will a seagate with a larger cache say 8mb versus 16mb improve performance a lot or any if at all it would still spin at 7200rpm.

this link is for the one i want.

Sorry i just looked at hitachi and saw that they offer the larger and slower hard drives i guess i have new question whats the performance difference between a 5400rpm and the 7200rpm.

The AW probably has a 12.5mm HDD slot and uses 400GB/500GB Hitachi 5K500s, if having a single drive.
    (If a 12.5mm slot, I don't know how would 9.5mm HDDs fit !!)

Disk Cache does not improve overall performace, but the boost is noticeable when copying large amounts of data over a sustained period of time.

The Hitachi 5K500 performs well when the data density is significant, but the access times are far lower than a 7200RPM drive. The 320GB 7200RPM drives are better than the 5K500.

    EDIT: Check out this post.

    Hello Mate

They offer these drives as Samsung produce a 500gb 9.5mm laptop drive. OEM companies wil always get these drives long before they are released for general sale.
