Hi guys, I was planning to install another hard drive onto my m17x so I can put it into raid 0. I currently got the 320gb with 7200 RPM. Is the hard drive in this link compatible with this laptop

yes it will work.
-
Do I need to pay attention to these specs 16MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb when I'm looking for a hard drive? Or do I just need to concentrate on the size of the harddrive and the speed of it.
-
yep it'll work, just don't forget that you need the caddy for it. Call Dell and ask them to send you the second HDD caddy (interposer, 4 screws and the cage)
<<< the size doesn't really matter, as long as it's 2.5" it should fit. -
the closer you can match the specs the better IMO
So Speed, Cache etc should be the same for maximum performance -
my M17x came with the caddy, so check to see if your does as well

Thanks for the information!

I just checked my laptop and it did come with the caddy and 4 screws

What about the interposer?
-
whats the interposer? From what I saw, I got the four screws the black cover that say HDD1.

its the a small adapter that connects your hard drive and your motherboard. Look at the link.
