Has Dell ever credited/refunded you back after 21 days of owning laptop?

I want to know if DELL has made exceptions with anyone.

Has anyone had DELL credit them back in the amount that was used to build their laptops?

My situation is I have a defect and it's been over 200 days but I had the problem since day one and I took the gamble of working with DELL tech instead of just returning it because I didn't want to pay the 15% restock fee.
Now they are exchanging it for another laptop of the same build or better... but I want them to just refund me or give me credit so I can build myself a laptop of MY choice. I just want to max out the build instead of play RANDOM computer exchange...

The tech says no... blahblahblah warranty this warranty that but they know they can do whatever they want... it's not that they can't, it's that they won't. These limitations of warranty are not set by me, it's set by them and for a purpose I understand, but my question is...

I just want to get a new laptop, not a refurbished... but chances are I'll get a new build.

Correct you will most likely get a new build. No they will not refund after so long a period of time. Good news is take the new build that comes, do not even open it. Put it unopened on ebay and get top dollar for it which will be more than the first one. Take the money and order what you want end of problem. You should come out ahead. ;)

Well you see the reason why I ask is because there's this video on youtube where a guy in the USA (where I am) says that he was offered a refurbished or credit back to buy a new one and he took the second option and he maxed it out... I don't know whether he had his deal within his 21 days or what? check it out... I just want to max out my laptop and not play random computer exchange.

chances are I'll get an m18x because I am having problems with my m17x which is pretty maxed out except the processor is the second to the best.
    Dual 5870 gpus...

I offered to pay the difference out of pocket but yes, I thought about what
Alienwolf had to say about putting it on Ebay and using the funds to buy myself a maxed out laptop... that'll probably be the only way.

Reason why I ask is because I don't want refurbished. I don't trust what they mean by refurbished because the tech support on the phone who was talking to me offered me RIGHT THERE the m17x he had in front of him as exchange because he said that my problem with mine is unique to the machine and his has no problems... I was like," are you serious? You're kidding me!?" That one is used 24/7!!!

If you go to best buy and buy an expensive 3d tv and it is defective, they replace it with the display off the showroom floor that is on 24/7, how would anyone feel? That was not even right...

So I'm literally begging them to just give me a refund or a credit back so I could build a new one... because when they have overstock of useless stuff that they can't get rid of whether it's used or whatever, they shove it on warranty stuff... and it's such a gamble...

How do you know how another person uses their machine? Fact stands his works, your's doesn't seems like a winning situation to me. Gotta look on the bright side getting something used too, assuming you've seen it in action you know it works. With the way stuff is built these days (if it's not a plasma anyway) your TV's are almost better off getting a display model over a new one.

All of my systems are refurbished. I tried ordering a new one once after 2 delays I canceled and ordered on the outlet. Better price faster shipping same warranty. All have either been no problem, fixed or replaced with new. Of seven in 2 years should the ones I did not want for same or more than paid. Lighten up with a little thought you can get to where you want to be. ;)

You could try getting them to replace the unit and then you sell it on Ebay or locally.

I dont know if this will be useful or not but ive heard of some people being able to get a full refund even after the 21day time period.. due to extensive problems with their laptops... but i assume this is extremely rare so.. u mite have to settle with getting their replacement and selling that on ebay or locally like others have posted above..

Unfortunately, unless you want to run the maze and escalate your issue - you are stuck with a replacement which may very well be a refurbished unit (remember, just because its a refurb doesn't mean its 'bad').

If you want the refund, kindly inform the rep you are dealing with and ask them to escalate it (they HAVE to escalate - your request to sidestep and give you a refund is NOT something that 1st level support rep can do). Your chances are not good IMO but feel free to give it a go.

Best of luck. BTW - see this thread:
