Just wondering what you guy with 8800gtx are getting OC'd with or without the x9k processors. ANy of the processors - le me know if you've OC'd it.

What's the max that anyone has pushed on the system re 3dmark06 score? (before entering danger zone..)

can't OC the M15X. I would not suggest doing it either.

I was able to get some shader clocks up, and I noticed a difference. I posted my results in one of the threads somewhere, I think it was in the "Has anyone figured out the poor Crysis performance" or something like that thread.

    Great.

I ask because with the m1530, a friend got it from the stock 4300 3dmarks06 to 7k 3dmark06 score with CPU + GPU OC. The 1530 had decent cooling that's why it could take that abuse.

Because the m15x overheats fast it may not be the best idea - but for those m15x's that don't overheat immensely, it would be good idea to try and tweak the best power out of the setup.

Yeah yeah...people say don't OC laptops, but it can be done safely and you can realize great performance gain out of it.

I agree with you DRTH, my M1710 still holds it's own right now with decent OC's.

I am running my 7900gtx at 635 and 800 mem. And it doesn't go above 80 degrees while using Ik8Fangui set to max fan speed when gaming. CPU at 2.8ghz.

My returned M15x smashed my XPS scores but in real life the continous downclocking in games made it a worse performer. And my CPU had the wrong heatsink from the factory and wasn't able to push it at all.(Extreme Edition) CPU would reach 95 and downclock aswell.

Overclocking anything on the M15x to me would be system suicide. Although if could handle a decnt OC the system would be amazing.

I've been looking at various benchmarks and so on for like the last month (trying to choose a new laptop) As far as I can remember,I thought it was generally the gpu that was the limiting factor (well it is if you're going to be playing games mostly) - Firstly gpu's are generally a lot easier to overclock than cpu's

(I know yeah, the x9000 is unlocked, but a bios that supports changing the multiplier is prob not going to be coming out any time soon)

BUT I just saw this page
    http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTIxOCwyLCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==

The tdp of the 8800 is 185watt/150!!!!!!
I assume that's accurate (but if its not please say)
Overclocking that would be madness - laptop meltdown.

This begs the question - if the m17x is going to be running two in sli and say an extreme x9000, thats a tdp of 414watts!! (44 + 185*2)

So much for putting that on your lap.
